Hey y'all, I just purchased a Pam 104 liar week and it comes with the alligator band as well as the rubber one. Can I get the alligator one wet? Seems like it's not a good idea but having the waterproof watch with a band that's not is a little concerning.

Have you considered calling PANERAI and asking? I don't think it's recommended, but I'm sure others will lend their advice shortly. Have you considered using the rubber strap in the meantime?

I am going with yes. This may sound sound simple, but it is crocodile skin and has been tested by Panerai against fresh water, salt water, sweat etc.
I use the rubber or canvas straps for water with my Pam because I want to keep the croc looking fresh and new.

When you say wet, you mean taking it for a swim or having it taking raindrops or sprinkling water? Raindrops and water sprinkles yes, but not for swim/dive I think. Well, it will survive, but will probably shrink or tear a bit after. That is why the rubber is for. Or buy a waterproof leather strap instead. The OEM cashmere is also written waterproof, though I still wouldn't take it for a swim. It has like a wax layer upfront so the water dripping on it would simply drift away.

True, the call is in as the manual says they only use approved alligator skin from Louisiana but no maintenance details are provided. So in the meantime...

Technically you can feel free to head into a pool or ocean with an oem leather strap. Panerai doesn't deter you from it, but it does mention that right after you must rinse strap with fresh water and let it dry at room temperature, not exposing it directly to the sun (which defeats the purpose if wearing at the beach). Sun causes fast evaporation which may lead to shortened life use of the strap. Because of this nuisance of after-use care, I always use the rubber strap or a really old beat-up leather that I could care less if it goes or not.

Alligator isn't waterproof. If you're planning to use your PAM somewhere with water, I'd recommend switching to the rubber strap.

My OEM croc got water marks from sweat after a few months where is soaked in through the stiching, so no. It's REALLY hot here in summer. . It was a burgandy colour, so black may be more resilient.
