Any mustang owners?
Hey guys looking at a 2005 mustang GT. Not knowing much about cars, I'm reaching out here for some advice. Thought this would be a fun weekend car for me and the wife. 4.6l V8 auto trans. It's really clean with 27,000 miles. Seems to run great and really tight.Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about this year, and anything I should be concerned about. At $15,000 seems like I would be getting a fairly new car. Any thoughts?

Its a great car Rob with low miles but its about 3k overpriced. Is it a dealer or private party?

Looks nice. I don't know about the price but you don't find many 11 year old cars with that low mileage.
I was looking for the same thing a while back. Most of the Mustangs I could find had higher miles or were beat up. I ended up buying a 2016 Miata. |

Although I LOVE Ford I am not a mustang guy. Corvettes for me, but I see the mustang appeal.

Great cars. Not the fastest mustang you can buy but by all means more than capable weekend cruiser for you and the wife. Looks clean from here and the Mike's are good. Having just sold a 2003 BMW convertible with 20,000 miles I know people will pay up for a super clean low mile car so pretty much throw away the book as far as value goes.
I have also bought and sold 4-5 mustangs. The one thing to be aware of on mustangs is the huge spread between wholesale and retail if this is from a dealer they should have some room. Maybe Danny or another dealer member can step in and offer you a wholesale price via DM. At least to give you an idea of where they may be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great cars. I have a 2008 Bullitt and it's an awesome car. Drive it like you stole it and do normal wearable type maintainece and change all your fluids and oil. Rinse and repeat.
There is a massive aftermarket for them too. You can do anything you like to them from mild to wild. I've got a couple of friends with Mustangs of this generation with 800 and 900+ horsepower and they are reliable daily drivers. Here's a pic of mine. Isn't she sleek. She goes too!! |

Same color as my 06 coupe! I bought a 06 with 25k miles last year for 12k.... I have done 6k in work on it. New tires rims,cat back exhaust cams,valve springs,Brakes, intakes and puts out about 360+ rwhp now. Change the plugs ASAP they a bitch to change...if one brakes its going to cost 1500 or more to dig out. ...change every 30k miles. Auto trans is a sealed unit....I would change it every 30k miles too. I put new coils in ....the coil over plug is a strange design....I used Accel 24k volts for better response too..love the Bullitt below
btw....a Ford mechanic who now hops up Mustangs as a full time job telling me this stuff......he did all the work on mine. |

Good looking Mustang. The price seems high for the age of the car even with low miles. I would shop around in your market and see what similar vehicles are going for. When I got serious, it would go to both a Ford dealer for inspection and a Mustang Shop. Like a watch, buy the seller and do your due diligence.

$15k is high. I had an 06 GT that i bought new. Also did the Ford racing hot rod cams, springs, kooks headers, corsa axle backs etc. Along with a GT500 spoiler and GT/CS front bumper and the newer track pack wheels with eibach springs. It was a fun car but hard to make alot of power of the 4.6. Sold it and and got a GTO and then Viper and now Corvette. The Mustang was a good car and lots of fun.

No matter, it's 11 years old, if I could get it a few thousand less it'd be a better deal so you can put an exhaust and cold air intake and you'd have a hell of nice date night car.

I would see if you can get a thousand off and have them throw in a 3-year premium care warranty for you that way at least you have the peace of mind for the next three years and not have to worry about anything.

I had two of them (2005 and a 2006) and like a few mentioned here I eventually ended up in a Corvette after selling the Mustangs. For me, I couldn't make them fast enough so I traded up to something that made me happier. I'm a GM guy but I will admit that both of my Mustangs were pretty solid cars. No oil leaks, no broken parts issues etc. I also think that one's overpriced, regardless of mileage.

I guess I'll elaborate a little since I don't want that comment to come off as a dis to the Mustang.
I love torque, I mean so much that you can't move in your seat while accelerating. I also like to leave the base block of the engine in the car while modifying it. If I have to get into the block to make the car faster I start spending more money chasing that speed than it's worth. Last time I did that I ended up with an $80K Camaro that got 1-2 mpg. So knowing that I'm capable of getting very carried away with my car mods, I took the next car I wanted that could give me over 400ft/lbs of torque from the middle of the rpm range and above. It took a few mods to get it there but they were easy enough. Would I buy those Mustangs again? Absolutely. I had a lot of piece of mind driving them. They were quick, comfortable, driver friendly and I felt safe in them, I just wanted something different after a few years. |

New GT 350 is really nice.
