To trade or not to trade?

A friend of mine who is a watch dealer have offered to trade my AP 26320 blue dial for a preowned smurf. Both watches are in mint condition with box and papers.

It's a hard choice, the smurf is so cool and I have been lusting over it for quite some time. But my AP is still relatively new and I really enjoy it.

I can't afford to buy any new watches for a while, as I already bought an AP and a PP this year, with the wedding coming up, I need to conserve funds. So straight up buying the smurf is not an option either.

What would you do?

Where you say "...my AP is still relatively new and I really enjoy it" kinda gives it away a bit. You've answered your own question, mate. Keep, wear and enjoy.

Good luck and best wishes in your forthcoming wedding

The AP is a great piece. The smurf is a nice piece. Both are great in there own right. I would go to my friends office and have both pieces side by side and make my decision.

By looking at your avatar pic, it seems that you have a VC, PP, AP, two Rolexes and one piece that I can't identify. Trading the AP for the Smurf would leave your collection Rolex-heavy, and without an AP at all.

I say do not trade.

On occasion, although the sleep demons kept me up until about 7 this AM and I had to get up at 10. Ouch. Sorry to momentarily hijack the thread; I blame it on sleep deprivation.

Keep the AP for 6 months and try on the smurf several more times in that period. If you still want to flip go for it.

You have such a balanced, well thought out collection. I think I would sit this one out until after the wedding.

Now, for the future, looking at what you've got, maybe flipping the DSSD for the smurf...?

Sound advice, the wedding nerves are probably making me a little restless, I am going focus on what's important first and appreciate the collection as it is

I prefer the smurf given that it is not too old. The 26320 never did anything for me.

Can you register for a Smurf as a wedding gift? You don't need dishes or appliances anyway!

In all seriousness, are there any watches that you don't wear often or would be more willing to trade in?

I can't sell that piece as it was my mom's dying gift to me.

Keep your AP

Smurf's will always be around and you can trade further down the line when and if you are not enjoying the current AP anymore

Keep the AP IMHO - your collection is very well balanced....perhaps add a Deep Blue?
