Icon20 Refinished dial, yay or nay?

Hi guys, I'm a noob on this site but have been perusing this forum for information quite often.

Sorry if these questions have been asked before.

1. I'm looking to buy a blue dial 1601 DJ (WG) but many that I see online have been refinished. Should I just accept that fact or just keep looking for a untouched dial? They seem to be going for $2400-$3400 USD.

2. Do you guys have insurance on your watches? Separate insurance? Or lump it in with your homeowners insurance?

TIA

If you really want an original dial, just be patient - they do show up regularly. Do some research here or on dealers with good archives (HQMilton, watchcentre,etc..).

Check with your insurance agent. Many require separate policies which are no big deal - it depends on your homeowners.

Thanks for the input dpa94114. I will on both accounts. Unfortunately, "patience" is something I lack. But I'm definitely working on it.

A trusted seller has what you want, as you described. It isn't a perfect dial, but it looks to me to be an honest (i.e. not not refinished) example. Just plug "1601" in the search box on the watchrecon.com site.
Good luck with your hunt. The vintage DJ is a classic.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually looking for the stick dial in blue and white gold version.

But thanks anyhow. My search will continue ✌
