Rolex bracelet screws shoot out...
So I finally received two Horotec screwdrivers for removing Rolex bracelet links. One is 160, the other 180. I used them on my Sea Dweller in order to compare them to the famed Rolex 2100 and to my trusty Wiha 260 P (1.8 X 40).
The Horotec 180 is too wide for the Rolex screw. The 160 fits length-wise but it's too thin thus fits loosely. The hollow tip Wiha 260 P fits as well as the Rolex 2100. I hope this helps. |

Thanks for the info. Off to Amazon.
Do you happen to have the part number. Don't see that exact driver. Thanks |

So this Wiha PicoFinish fits without having to file it down, despite being 1.8mm? Also, are you sure it has a hollow ground tip? It looks like a standard taper tip, and the description doesn't indicate anything different.

Can you compare any of these to the Bergeon 1.6??

The "problem" with the Bergeon is that the tip of the driver is flat, thus it might mar the head of the screw. In order to avoid ant damage to the head of the screw, the ideal driver tip (as per the Rolex 2100 tool) ought to be hollow.
As a matter of fact, the Horotec drivers in the attached pictures are hollow, except that being the tip rather thin it puts the pressure of the screw driver at the ends of the slot on the screw. |

If you want the BEST fit possible.....File the sides of the 1.8mm down to 1.7mm. That is the EXACT size of the Rolex link screw (Same as the Rolex 2100 tool).

The blades on both Horotech are too thin and move from side to side in the slot. At least that's the case with the ones I just bought.

Rolex bracelet screws shoot out...
File the 1.6 at 90' with very fine sandpaper until there is no play. You can use the Bergeon roller for better result. I use this method on a Bergeon and generic hollow screwdrivers.

I took a flat head for eyeglasses and filed it at 90 degrees to make it wider as you stated. I have yet to try this today! I can't imagine it not working well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So, none of the below screwdrivers would work for a SubC, including the Horotec that some here have touted???
Horotec Micro Ball Bearings Screwdriver with 1.60 mm Curvature Blade http://www.ofrei.com/page1701.html#34354 1.6mm Cut-out Screw Driver for Panerai Radiomir Firenze https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=all 1.60MM CUT OUT SCREW DRIVER FOR ROLEX SUBMARINER 116610 TOOL http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-60MM-CUT-O...-/171421126377 I cannot find a link to buy the Wiha Pico Finish 260 P, Germany, 010995 004804, referenced above. Can anyone assist on where to buy? |

Of course, you could file almost any screwdriver to fit any slot. I've tried it with some of the Bergeon screw drivers and they've worked fine. In every case, you must be careful, though. And for $17 I'd buy the Panerai/Horotec to see how it works. It might fit better than the regular Horotec I bought. |

I was just recently looking at drivers for the oyster bracelet links when I saw this post. Not sure if the drive I ordered is exactly OPs. So I searched and ended up getting the 260p 1.8 x 40 slotted screwdriver. The SKU# is 26055. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have the 260p just the 260. So here is the link where I found them. Price shipped was $11.63. If this is the one that's a bargain!

Your Wiha is 1.8? I've always read that 1.6 is the proper size, which is what I bought years ago. I'm going to order the Wiha that you use.
Thanks for doing all the research and taking the time to share the results! |

Please note that the Wiha screwdriver is marked 18 X 40. The tip is not as hollowed as the 2100 tool but fits just fine in the Rolex screw slot. Of course, the perfect tool is the Ref. 2100. If you take a close look at the Horotec, the tip is thin and short. The 18 Horotec tip will not fit the Rolex screw, the 16 will do so. In summary, The perfect tool is the Rolex Ref. 2100, no doubt. The Wiha 1.8 X 40 works just as well. The Horotec I will keep as souvenirs. |

The main issues with Horotec are the too thin and short blades. I will not even try them seriously; that is, for instance, unscrewing a new screw (which tend to be a bit tough to remove as they are fitted with Loctite). Bergeon (Otto Frei) screwdrivers are flat and will likely do a poor job, been there done that. Horotec, as far as I am concerned, are useless.

The best tool out there and I have tried a lot is the Rolex 2100 tool .. Bad thing is they are pricey.

Again, did you have to do any filing to make the Wiha 1.8 fit?
Thanks. |

I'd really like to hear from someone who has tried this one. It is made to fit Rolex bracelets specifically and looks to be patterned after the 2100 tool, with identical specs on the driver tip.
