Dubai -- Very cool place !

I had heard mixed things about Dubai.

Having arrived a few hours ago, all I can say is "wow" -- this city is a better tourist destination than I expected. Wife and I enjoyed walking through Dubai Marina area and are looking forward to seeing more of the city

I'm not familiar with the legal system. But most things seem fairly Westernized

His comment is quite offensive, and I won't respond directly as it is a violation of the politics rules.

Enjoy Dubai Steve. I am demobilizing back to the US this weekend or I'd drive over and say hello.

If you don't have it on your itinerary, try Global Village in the evening (it opens at 4 PM). The easiest watch shopping is at Dubai Mall where all the big names are in one location, near the fish tank.

It's "you're" and "a woman".

Also, their legal system is a little "horrible" when you compare it to my/our westernised notions.

Ho hum.

BTW - All three in the rape-jail thing were Brits and they were all released.

Don't like their ways, don't go there.

Can you speak Finnish perfectly? No? Then dont correct me on my fourth language. "Ho hum"? What does that even mean. What language is that? Certainly not english. Is it gramatically correct? I am aware of the details of the incident. Your post was pointless. I am not going there because I do not want to support a country with such backwards laws.

I have deliberately made some grammer mistakes in this post for your entertainment. Hopefully you will find them and feel better about yourself.

Just a thought, you might want to show a little more respect to Welsh, a moderator, founding member and repected leader of TRF. Oh, and read the rules about posting political opinions on this forum (they are not allowed). Frankly I think he showed restraint in not banning you, but that's just MHO. If you feel strongly about the political system/laws in a certain country, I repect your right to have those views and there must be thousands of forums you CAN express them; just not here.

Did I make any grammatical errors?

I dont have to respect anyone but I agree with the other points you made. This is not the place to bring up political opinions. I did enjoy the photos in this thread and I thank Steve for sharing them.

Thanks Abdullah. There's a high chance that I'll check out the fish tank but not buy anything I hadn't heard of Global Village until now but I am going to look into it

I think it is Dubai that has a village totally energy self sufficient, NO use of fossil fuels. It is all solar and wind and bldg features that increase insulation. Even in summer, with all the air conditioning, they don't use a drop of fuel. Very impressive!

That sounds great, Paul. Nice to hear they are working on sustainability! I have been wondering about the logistics of such a comfortable and modern city existing in a desert -- but I'm no engineer :twitch:
