A Human-Pig Hybrid Created
In an effort to generate human transplant organs, scientists have created a chimera by injecting human stem cells into a pig's embryo. Hopefully, these monsters (when fully developed) will never escape their cages/laboratories and interface with human beings as a pig with a human brain could prove problematic. This recent development is like something out of a really creepy Sci-fi movie/book. National Geographic has confirmed its existence.

First heard about the Pig Men on a Seinfeld episode many years ago.

I think the National Geographic article is a more precise account of this research.

And.... They are trying to grow human organs for transplants. The reported findings are in the very, very early stages of development of alternative organ sourcing.

This is interesting, but hardly a new development if you ask me.
I have known many human-pig hybrids over the years. |

The figurative representatives have always been with us.
On the other hand, accidental and invasive hybridization (along with genetic mutation) is an ongoing process as well. There is a theory (based on morphology rather than genetics) that modern-day humans are also a product of hybridization. https://broadspeculations.com/2013/0...re-we-hybrids/ |

These hybrids have been living in my neighbourhood for years.
They are the ones who can't manage to fit their garbage into their bins and then are too lazy to pick up the mess after the garbage truck has visited. These look like humans but live like pigs.

In many ways, one might wish it were (either at present or sometime later down the road). While scientific efforts/attempts to prolong and improve human life are both noble and worthwhile undertakings, there are far too many complications involved with this kind of experimentation (i.e. ethical issues, potential ecological mayhem etc.).
In a worst case scenario, it's kind of like Planet of the Apes except that Charleton Heston returns to Earth and encounters 'pig people' (instead of highly intelligent chimpanzees). |
