Genuis or Idiotic?

Mayweather is long past his prime. I still think he'd likely win tho.

I don't see this as ever happening.

This stuff is so far off my radar screen.

Personally, I could NOT care less.

Indeed money.

But both have enough. Or many ways to get more.

Neither one really gets anything out of a win. They both lose a lot with a loss.

For some people, they can never have enough.

In a boxing match, yeah, he'd definitely have a clear advantage, but if they face each other in an octagon, I think he would get crushed. Either way, both aren't people that I look up to, so my interest in the fight is negatively biased.

Don't see the point.
Mayweather would win in a boxing match and Mcgregor would win in mixed martial arts.

Pretty sure UFC fighters are prohibited from competing in other combat sports while currently under contract. Either man would get destroyed in the other's sport anyway and I'm pretty sure they both know this. All that aside, people would watch it and it would make money.

Mayweather is just not a fun fighter to watch imo. He is good and wins but no highlight reel material.

Genuis or Idiotic?

Mayweather will Not fight/box him straight up!
He will tell him to go fight someone else and then maybe he will fight him. All the time knowing he will Not. He will dodge him while he is in his prime and then it will be too late. IE Manny Pacquiao!

It's foolish for McGregor to sign up for a boxing match against Mayweather. He's going to lose. Guaranteed. Mayweather is a damn smart boxer. I agree that his fights aren't exciting for people who are looking for an all out slugfest, but Mayweather knows exactly what to do in order to win.

I'd love to see the fight in the octagon because McGregor would whoop Mayweather's ass BIG TIME, but we all know that fight isn't going to happen.

TRUE, MW is a smart boxer but how do you prepare for a guy like McGregor when you can't just study pure boxing film to develop your game plan. That's what would make this so interesting, to me. Unpredictability!

Mayweather is a BIG Mouth!

McGregor says he will win etc. because he is incredible at self promotion and drumming up publicity but I don't think he even cares if he loses. He is doing this because he would make an insane amount of money. If this did happen he would make a minimum $100 million. Mayweather also knows this would be one of his biggest purses as well. It's all about the money.

I agree with everyone here, this is all about money. It is hard to turn down 100 milion dollars, but I do question integrity and respect of the sports these guys are stars of. Whether or not you watch Boxing and UFC, they are incredible athletes and worthy of their fan base; the bouts can be very entertaiing. But mixing the two...

It brings back the concept of having a kangaroo in a boxing match. IMHO, disrespectful as hell to the respctive individual sports. Make a spectacle of yourself for a buck.

Both these fighters are entertainers first. Fighting just happens to be their medium.

And respectively, they are or we're both at the top of their game.

I would buy this fight. And I think the idea is fun.

But I think it's stupid. Both fighters, but of two very different disciplines. It's apples and oranges.

But I'd watch the show. For certain.
