Just picked up a 5508 !
Hi there all
Loving the feel of it so light compared to my gmt master 2 ! Bracelet has no stretch at all used as a best watch most of its life which hopefully is my gain ! Any comments much appreciated. Cheers Rod |

I've polished the glass after the picture , it was lightly scratched , but tempted to leave the bracelet as it is what do you think ?

hi, congrats, I love 5508s
but I must ask: are you aware that the dial is not original, the bezel insert not original, and the hands are replaced, and the bracelet is most likely an aftermarket? I'm not being negative, it IS a pretty nice watch, just want to make sure you are aware of that in case you were not and are still in the 'return period' ;) |

I don think the bracelet is aftermarket but it may not be original to the watch

I thought it may be a service dial because of the condition , I've sent pictures to a source that buys , before I bought it and they offered £1000 more than I payed and they resale so I know I'm pretty safe on what I payed so I will enjoy it for now , as for the bracelet I'd rather have this condition than a stretched and worn one and worry about wearing and enjoying it ! What does anyone else think of the crown ?
Cheers |

I'm reluctant to comment especially as the photos aren't good but as an owner of 5508's I'm not feeling any love for this watch at all. Something overall feels not quite kosher!

I've know the owner and his wife for some time and unfortunately he passed away not so long ago . I had seen him wear it and just liked it .

OK - few things - lets not throw aftermarket and such around so fast . Would need better photos to show aftermarket or not.
As for the dial, insert, hands - like MOST 5508s out there these have been replaced at service - so while not original to the watch, they are factory server parts. Interesting and fun piece - not a concourse example of a classic 5508

Those additional photos help. Looks like a 62 case back which was probably about the last run of the 5508's. Were butterfly rotors gone by 62? Others can weigh in on that. Looks okay.

That's good then I'll take some more of the bracelet the clasp definitely is not the correct one but looking at the blades all the markings seem correct with the identifications else where on here . So hopefully the watch is service parts and it's just the bracelet that has been modded over the years
