I have heard great things about the new card and services! A couple handy extras with the increase.
Card weighs an impressive 18 grams now. |

Ordered an extra card for my "better half" this past Friday. They confirmed it would be metal. Mine is still plastic -- opted not to switch right away

I have had the AMEX Platinum business Credit Card ( not charge card) for years and enjoy the $0 fee per year. I am not one to use perks however maybe i am missing out on something. I don't travel often though and it seems this is where the real benefits occur.

Had platinum for 4 years and didn't find the benefits worth the fee. You still have to queue for customer services and type in your card details before you speak to someone. I don't pay a fee for my bank and I speak to a human within 2 rings, no press 1 or 2.
Very cool that the card is metal, I really like that, but £450 per year for what you get isn't worth it. |

They are bumping the annual fee $100. I break even on benefits at that level. May have to rethink it.

Do the new chipped US cards now work in Europe--that is, do they have a corresponding PIN for point of sale devices? Hope so.

US cards are all pretty much chip and signature (i think barclays issues a pin card), but they work the same. They also work in automated machines like train ticket kiosks the only difference there is they don't require a signature or a pin, it just approves the transaction when you put your card in. If its not chipped at all (IE magnetic strip only) lots of places won't accept that type of card at all in my experience. Usually in touristy areas you are ok as they are familiar with them, but out of the main cities its different. The best workaround if you don't like having to sign all the time is to add your card to Apple Pay as almost everywhere accepts contactless payments for smaller transactions and its quicker too, just scan and go. |

Used my "dedicated travel agent" to arrange some travel-disaster! She booked wrong week, though correct flights. When I called to change to the proper dates, was told that she was on vacation. Sorted it all out, but that was when they lost me. My Green Card does it all.

I just ordered mine, but I'm wondering if the Chase Saphire Reserve card is a better way to go.
Anyone have knowledge of both and which do you prefer?

That's what I have and it's been a great card. Especially for getting into sold out events and restaurants that I had to have a table for on the fly. I do like the service as well. Maybe I'm missing something here but my Marriott and Sapphire are metal. And that's been 3 and 2 years respectively. This isn't about metal is it ? Is this about Platinum, platinum watch ? lol
