Favorite celebrity chef?

Well? Just wondering. I'm sure I've missed a few but you can write in.

While he's not really a professional chef, I enjoy watching Alton Brown both for his practical approach to cooking + the variety of different watches he wears on various episodes of 'Good Eats'.

Can't stand Bobby Flay as he is always complimenting himself on his culinary creations. What a pompous bag of wind.

Favorite? There are quite a few who's restaurant live up to expectations: Gordon Ramsay, Mario Batalli, Masaharu Morimoto, Emeril Lagassi just to name a few. For the sake of the poll, I chose Mario Batalli. Every one of his restaurants does executes their food very well.

My least favorite? IMO, Bobby Flay. His cooking never looks like its all that great and the food at his restaurants have all sucked. I also happen to think anything with Wolfgang Puck on it also is blah

I'm born n raised in The Bay Area so I have to go with The Bay Areas own Guy Fieri...I don't have the same taste as him in watches, but he gets the nod for also being a WIS.

I tried her restaurant and the view was great. I liked her cocktails more then her food. We liked 1/2 our appetizer and 1/2 our entrees but worth the experience.

Yeah me too, particularly since I was born and raised on a ranch in the 1950-60 era.

Somewhat surprised that the 'bad boy' of culinary arts, Anthony Bourdain hasn't been mentioned yet. He's one celebrity chef who in his younger days, knew how to party hard both on and off the clock.

Because he's not a chef. Despite what he portrays himself to be, he was nothing more than a line cook at Les Halles. He never created a menu or a dish. It's a great place but anyone working there could whip up steak frites or the rest of the brasserie fare they serve.

Bottom line is that he's a better author and TV personality than chef

Renato. That's an interesting insight as Bourdain is often referred to as the former executive chef at Les Halles. While I'm familiar with the roles of an executive chef, sous chef, pantry chef and pastry chef, it's somewhat surprising to learn that he was primarily a line cook despite all of his culinary acclaim and noted pedigree from the CIA/Culinary Institute of America (not that everyone who graduates there goes on to become a famous chef).

There's no doubting his education and training but his title at Les Halle's does not reflect his actual duties. He expedited and occasionally got behind a grill at a popular brasserie that churns and burns tables until 2am. That's not quite the same as being the executive chef at La Bernadin

Renato spelled it out pretty clearly and educated me along the way. Yet Bourdain continues to be mentioned?

Favorite celebrity chef?

I enjoy watching beat bobby flay and chopped but honestly haven't been to flays restaurants.

I have been to Del Posto and the food was good so I guess Mario gets a nod.
