Thinking of a trade and need some expert thoughts.

Hey all, I purchased a 116610LVc a few months ago and I do love it. I also have a 16710 bought new in Dec. of 1999. Both are complete sets (boxes, tags, receipts). As you know you get a watch and are content with it then you read the forum and see pics of certain watches and they make you go hmmmm. That is were I am at right now. Here are the scenarios;

1) Only trade LVc for a Black DSSD +cash from me.

2) Trade both LVc & 16710 for a D-Blue hopefully even swap.

3) Keep both and add Black DSSD in a few months from a trusted seller.

The wife loves my LVc so that would get bought again at some point for her.

Thoughts on Deep Sea Black vs Deep Blue dial. Is it worth the premium to you?

My GMT is not working right now (when you turn the crown it does not wind the watch) needs service.

4) Service watch before possible trade or trade as is.

Ps. Big wrist guy so no prob wearing a DSSD.

I'd get a black dssd. You have color already. They can be had for less than 9k.

Get the D-Blue. The dial makes all the difference and is that good.
I would not trade both of your watches for an even swap though. That's a bad deal for you.
If you've gotta part with one, let the LVC go and add it down the road. You've had that 16710 far to long to part with it.

Paying more often works out cheaper in the end, as most of us come to learn.

I'd go for the black DSSD. Given that you said your wife really likes the LVc, I'd consider keeping it and trading the GMT towards the DSSD. While I like the 16710 and it is admittedly more comfortable on my wrist than a sub/SS/DSSD, I'm partial to the divers in terms of looks.

Not sure you'd get the best value when trading the GMT if its inoperable at this time, so I'd check into the service cost before doing the trade. A 16710 in working order with box and papers usually doesn't last long here when listed for sale, but I have no idea what to expect for trade value on one.

Since I'm a OWG, I would trade 16710 for DSSD and save the hulk for wife.

Or

Add DSSD later on and service 16710 now.

Keep what you have, you'll only long for it later on in life. Go for a black DeepSea. Most likely a broken spring in your GMT, I just had the same thing happen to mine.

Don't do 2. Terrible, terrible deal for you. Based on that, 1 is probably a trashy deal with a high amount of cash from you. If you have to get rid of one or both, at least sell the watches privately.

The Dssd is a beautiful piece but it is a huge chunk of metal to have to lug around.

You are nuts if you trade either of those watches for a DSSD of any configuration.

Keep what you have, they are both more versatile watches than the DSSD.

Here is the main problem I see, you are potentially board with 2 of the nicest Rolex watches. If I was a better person I would say that you would get board of the DSSD shortly after having to deal with its massiveness and skinny bracelet:) Service your watches to get them back to shiny new and enjoy them. In fact separated from your watch due to being in service maybe good for you...

Don't do anything now.

Buy DSSD in a few months.

Wear watches in rotation.

If you find yourself wanting to wear GMT, service it. If you no longer want to wear it, sell it.

Don't sell now before you find out whether you truly won't wear it anymore. If you do and you want it back later, tough.

Always give yourself options.

Have a 7 3/4" wrist, and tried a 16710 but too small, whilst some sentimental value for you having since new, would look to trade that

You wouldn't be too far from black DSSD which are great value at the moment and as a pure divers/shorts watch love the size and wear every day

The deep blue is something else, different light gives different shades of blue and so glad I patiently waited for mine. Whilst the price premium may cause you to sell both watches, IMHO really worthwhile and looks great on a big wrist

Unless you just don't wear the 16710 at all or have fallen out of love, I'd keep it. I would understand if you weren't feeling it anymore. I'd have no problem letting an LVC go for a DSSD blue. Much easier to get another LVC down the road if you wanted to

I would keep what you have. Service the GMT and get it right. Save some cash and then buy a nice example of a DSSD. They can be had for 8K cash with a TS. I like the dial of the DSSD-Blue but would not pay a 3-4K difference.

Lvc + 16710 for DSSD + cash FOR YOU.
