Opinion on my WG Daytona
Hi there,
Just joined the forum and would appreciate some feedback from you guys. I bought a WG White Face Daytona from my local Rolex Dealer. I wanted the Black face - so rather than loose the sale they said that it would be sent back to Rolex and they'd get the face changed - it would come back and that would be the job done. It came back a week later with the black face of the S/S model installed (i.e. no numbers and white dials). It was sent off again and today has come back with what would appear to be a 'slate grey' face - i.e. not deep/gloss black but a more watered down version of it. I checked in the Rolex catalogue in store and it matches the shade exactly of a 'slate grey' face but the outer markings are red - whereas on the proper 'slate grey' face they are white. Could you guys please have a look at the pictures and let me know what your thoughts are before I take it to another Rolex dealer for a 2nd opinion? The depth of the black on the S/S face which they put on incorrectly first of all was much deeper/darker than this. Is this just how the white gold ones are? Thanks in advance for your comments. Rick. |

Congrats You not only have my favorite dial on a Daytona, but you have the correct dial for a WG Daytona that is not available on the SS model.

The SS Black dial is a glossy black, the WG is more of a matte black and is correct for the watch! Congrats! ~Scott

Looks correct. At certain angles it will look slate grey and straight down it will appear matte black.

That's correct. The dark WG dial is matt, and looks flat in my opinion, the SS version with batons looks nicer as it's gloss. I had one and sold it, my friend has the silver dial and it is beautiful, and worktolivelife has the meteorite which is just to die for.

Thanks for all of your input!
Looks like the WG has a matt finish as some of you suggested. Next time i'm near another dealer i'll pop in for another opinion :) Cheers all! Rick. |

I have two very healthy kidney's. I am more than willing to trade you one for the Daytona if you are not happy with it!
Welcome to TRF. There are some incredibly knowledgable people on here who will help you, but may I suggest you post larger pics? That will help them to give you a more exact opinion. Also, see the Rolex reference section & the review section. There's a ton of info & pics there. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=27108 http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=47529 Congratulations on a beautiful watch & wear it in the best of health.
