Great photos. Saw the Blue Angels last weekend in Rome, Georgia. Great show, but overcast. Which was fine, but hard to capture the yellow highlights on the Blue Angels.

The last few photos were a “race” between an airplane and a truck with jet engines. I think they were also trying to show how the jet engines could “light up” a smoke cloud.

I used a Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 lens.
Shot them in shutter priority mode, at 1/1250 of a second.

I try to catch them every time they are in town, which is usually every other year.
They alternate with the Thunderbirds.

Great photos. I've tried taking photos of aircraft and have failed miserably. It's very difficult.

I won’t lie, it took me a few shows to get it right.
I think the key is to shoot in shutter priority so the action gets frozen, and being able to quickly track the aircraft while it flies at 400 miles per hour overhead.
