i believe very early ones were around that size without counting the pushers and crown.

I️ believe the current SS Daytona is 38.6mm if you use calipers to measure it.
The 4 digit Daytona’s were more like 37mm.

They all look like they are 38 if your wrist is larger, regardless of what the web tells ya

All of the original 60's and 70's Daytonas were about 38mm.
I don't think that watches were so critically measured by enthusiasts back then as they are now.

Thats a 40mm daytona. They made 38mm daytonas pre zenith iirc.

Most measurements I see here are measured horizontal 9 to 3. My understanding is Rolex measure diagonally 10 to 4 or 8 to 2. Maybe the reason for the differences of opinion.
