What is the best luck/karma you have ever received?
I am a firm believer in karma. I think I just like being generous/nice. When good things happen for me, I like to think it is because I imparted good on the world. So, what is the best instance of good karma or good luck that has befallen you all? For me, in the grand scheme of life, I would say my close family. If we are talking about material things, I would say when I ordered a 75" Samsung TV and the retailer sent me 3 of them. After calling to let them know, they told me to keep the other 2 (I guess shipping them back from California to NY was too much).

I was looking at a building downtown, a five story stone front 1880s building, and a lady stopped to see what I was looking at, and we started talking. A fella walked by in a hurry. Thirty seconds later I look down and notice he had dropped a roll of money right at the lady's feet. The guy is out of sight, either in one of several deli's or around the corner.
I pick up the roll. A ten and four ones USD. I give the lady (she looked like she needed it more than me) the ten and continue my walk down the block to an appointment with a property manager. Barely opened my mouth, scored a decent contract. The manager, she pretty much laid out the scope and told me to do it without firm pricing from me. |

20 years ago I walked into the right room at the right time and met the beautiful young woman who is now my wife.

I was genuinely touched by a gesture of good will toward me a few summers ago. I had been working on my motorcycle (doing a valve adjustment) in 95 degree heat in my garage. I was sweaty and dirty and had on an old t-shirt and dingy shorts and had been working on the bike past noon. I was starving so I drove to a local take out place to grab some lunch and when I went to pay a guy I didn't know and never met before came up and said he would take care of it and paid for my meal. I was stunned. I told him he didn't need to do that, that I had money to pay for my meal but he insisted. Said he had a gift card he wasn't going to use as he was traveling out of the area soon and just wanted to get rid of it. It was very humbling and I didn't know quite what to say but I managed to thank him for this kind gesture. In hindsight, I probably looked homeless.
It was a small gesture amounting to about $8 but it is something I'll never forget. |

I was driving home alone on Christmas Eve a few years back, just a couple of miles from home, when I see two women struggling to push their rather large pick-up truck out of the street, into a parking lot. At the time, my back had been giving me quite a bit of trouble for the past few months and I really had no business pushing a truck of all things. But honestly, who wouldn't have stopped in that circumstance? So I helped them move the truck safely out of the street, then gave the two a ride home. I made it home, a little late, but none the worse for wear.
Karma effect: The next morning, when I got out of bed, my back was pain free and actually stayed that way for a number of months.
