Stupid Profits in Bitcoin - Watch Suggestion Needed!

So I got on to the Bitcoin wagon on a whim 2 weeks back. When BTC was trading at 8,500. When it breached 10,000 - I bought some more!

With an average cost of $9,400, I had bought 4 bitcoins and 2 days back, when it hit $15,600 - I got out.
It did run up to $18,500-$19,000 within 4 hours of my selling and also crashed back to $15,000 in the next few hours after that!
Of course, I would have like to sell closer to the peak and made $37,000 - but I am thankful for what I made.

So, end of story - I am sitting on a $24,800 profit in 2 weeks! Stupid money made out of thin air, which I don’t feel like I deserve to have made (I am a banker and advise others on their investments)

But it was an exciting 2 weeks as I read up more on it, discussing and arguing with co-workers, evangelizing about its future!

But a near $25K profit was enough for me to discard my bitcoin religion and move back to good ole fun things like watches!

I am hoping to spend this money on a watch and have a good story to tell about my “Bitcoin Watch” - either look like an idiot or a genius in 5 years’ time!

Watch Suggestions Needed, guys!

My Current Collection

The 2 Watches on my shortlist I have been meaning to add at some point in time have been -

1. The Hublot 45mm Spirit of Big Bang. Tonneau shape. Sporty looks. Well made. Jewel of a movement - Zenith El Primero.
Grey Market Price of about $15k

2. The AP Royal Oak Offshore 44mm. The new Titanium version.
Legendary maison. Legendary design. Ultimate weekend watch. Niggled by movement issues. Grey Market Price of about $25K - the almost exact amount of the profits made

Do you have any other suggestions guys?
Looking for
- Bold Watches with wrist presence
- Budget of $25K
- Prefer to spend on complications rather than on Gold / Platinum
- Am really keen to buy some “out there” watches like HYT, Urwerk, or similar. Realize that will be difficult in this budget - but am Ok with used too.

Any other Bitcoin stories out there?

between the 2 suggested watches, my vote goes to the AP

However, if i am allowed to suggest, I would consider either a skydweller or a yacht master 2

The UAE is implementing a tax policy. Expats will start feeling it in a year or two. And... the IRS expects you to report all income earned overseas. You can run, but you can't hide.

OP: I'd go with the AP.

AP of the two... But I feel a gold president would fit in nicely there.

AP vote for me too. You could consider the AP 15202 as an alternative.

Thanks for chiming in.
Anything else interesting out there I am missing out on?
Based on the collection I already have - my preference is for a brand that I don’t own already.

Another Rolex for sure since you only have one. A PM Skydweller would fit nicely. Plenty of wrist presence.

My choice of those two would be the AP. Another bold watch with wrist presence at $25k-ish grey market that I like would be the 116618lb yellow gold sub with sunburst dial.

Should have held that 4 bitcoin for at least 4 years. Where did you sell them?

$25,000 in 2 weeks on a $40,000 investment was too god not to take.

Especially when the AP ROO 44mm is at about $25K!
:-)

Did you use an exchange to sell them or did you sell privately?

Actually my investment was in a listed tracker that give me the performance of BTC 1:1. Wasn’t actual BTC.

So buying and selling wasn’t difficult.

Agree with Abdullah. AP.

Good way to spend it.

But it is money you earned. You took a risk. You hit. Well done. Enjoy it.

AP by far of the two options listed. Grab a SS SkyDweller or Hulk and bank the rest toward the next fun money opportunity.

:-)

Maybe I will be the genius who rode the last 2 week run up on Bitcoin and magically pulled out an AP ROO 44 out of thin air

Maybe I will be the poor sod who sold his 4 BTC for profit to buy “just a watch” while it went on to be worth a million dollars totally within 5 years and he could have comfortably put his kids through college.
