Can we make fun of our wife's spending habits in here?

I'm sure if I went onto purseblogforum.com or wherever they congregate, I can find a thread with my wife discussing what an idiot I am for buying expensive watches, I'm sure there are some funny tales to be told here, in secrecy.

Sure, it's all fun and games until some of the more sensitive members get offended...

Which is what usually happens. Debatable whether it’s sensitivity or fear though.

Sure, she’s probably doing the same when becomes to me with regards to watches, shoes, pointy things, and things that go boom.

My wife can't get enough of shoes..I just don't get it.
She always has an excuse why she needs to buy this shoe or that one. And she has like 10 types of flip flops...

O'Boy! I know exactly what you mean. Same few shoe brands too and they are not cheap!

Okay by me if it makes her happy!

Add high-end handbags into the mix as well. The rationale for their shoes has always been something along the lines of fashion and/or color coordination. The majority of men just don't comprehend the madness.

Now let's not even get started on their hair salon/spa expenditures.

The question is, are they doing all of this in regards to your sense of pride and spousal presentation or solely for their own ulterior motives?

Depending upon individual scenarios, some may be 'prospecting' for a better outside deal or simply looking ahead to the days when you won't be around any longer. Just saying.

My wife is a sucker for a "sale". Mid-August in Georgia with temperatures over 100° and she will come home with ski boots because "They were on sale!" Meanwhile, I have to remind her that we only go skiing every other year!

Mine too.

But Bloomingdales. Every text alert they send is reason enough for her to find something she needs.

I can’t. My wife doesn’t really buy anything for herself. No expensive purses and she hates shopping. This is good until I am looking for leverage to buy a new watch......

Sounds like you just described my wife, same here, and she doesn’t care about my buying habits. The most I hear is...that a new watch or nice boots.

I'll go with something more mundane... When my wife buys stuff and it makes her happy, I'm happy with it, HOWEVER, I HATE DECORATIVE PILLOWS!!

I'd rather drop money into a garbage can and set it on fire than buy decorative pillows. What purpose do these things serve? They're uncomfortable and you just have to move them out of the way. My floor looks like Antietam (had the battle been fought with decorative pillows) around our bed when we sleep.

We were having company over during the holidays; wife says, we have to put these decorative pillows away, go into the closet and behind here, take those decorative pillows that I have in the plastic out.

I feel your pain! We are constantly changing decorative pillows based on the season, bedding change, etc.

Decorative Pillows or throw pillows

My wife calls the decorative pillows, throw pillows. So as soon as she tried putting them on our bed I threw them on the floor and kept throwing them around whenever she tried to pile them on our bed. Sorry, I wasn't having 20 small pillows on my bed.... gotta draw the line somewhere

LOL, I can relate to this. Takes 20 minutes every night just to get into bed. Have to remove all the pillows and throw blankets. Sometimes in the morning I am in a hurry and do not get all the stuff back into its proper place. She will come in and sigh and fix it. No one will see it. Only if someone breaks in the house while we are at work. Do you think a burglar cares about our pillow arrangements......

My wife never buys anything for herself. I have no room to complain about anything, since I’m the spender.

However, Bloomingdale’s was closing a Vegas store some years ago, and she came home with a new set of bedding and pillows. She told me what a great deal it was... store closing clearance, etc. Something like $3000 for sheets, duvet cover and some pillows. I was literally speechless.

Agree... and too bad Chanel and Hermes don't have sales to her defense though, the items she buys have excellent resell value and they even appreciate in price.

With a raise and overtime, I made 40% more this year than I did last year. I should have more money then, right.
No, my wife racked up 20% of my gross pay in debt. Don't know where, don't know when, don't know how.

I sincerely hope that you're joking. If you're serious, this could be a very real cause for concern.

I have an ex-gf like this. When we were living together, for every pound I earned she spent two and there was never anything to show for it. I found out a few months after I packed my bags and walked that she had a habit of 'consuming' things that we're not allowed to talk about here.

No I am not joking.
I am sure she does not have the problem that you are discussing.

The problem is I work on the road most of the time I don't get to see the bills.
It's more along the line of this:
