* USA * Unclaimed Property on State Websites.

Have you checked your State's Treasurer's Unclaimed Property website lately?

I did not have anything, but I found that a few folks I know do. Contacted them - of course, they were surprised and jumping on it.

Amazing how these things get missed in the daily grind.

Every little bit counts!

Blessings,
DM

Hey Alex, go to your home State... for Texas it is: https://claimittexas.org/
I just googled it. Follow instructions on how to enter your name, then search.

Just went to Arizona's webpage and gave it a try. Nothing for me, but there were three entries for a cousin I'm close to. Need to let him know.

Wow what a help you’ve been with this, DM.

Nothing with my name on it here or other States. But a long lost aunt, once-removed, and now gone to her just reward, had several instances over a decade ago.

Will have to call our family archivist to get her on the hunt for the aunt’s heirs. Maybe they can claim the proceeds left over from what appear to be several real estate transactions in South Florida.

Thanks for the note to look for the property. I looked up unclaimed porperty in our state and found two items for my daughter. :) Not much, but it's hers to claim just the same. Cheers, Tim

That is absolutely terrific! I hope they can claim her monies. So happy to be involved in good news for your family.

You are welcome. I'm sure she will be surprised... good lesson for her to always check no matter what state she may live in, in the future.

Blessings,
DM

These type of searches turned up a few treasures when my mother started losing her memory and had changed her name over the course of her last 10 years. Be sure to search the names of your elderly loved ones.

Another similar jackpot for some is foreclosure surplus from the county clerks. If an individual's home that was foreclosed on is auctioned for more than the loan debt that money is owed to them in many states. An attorney I work closely with has found some large sums for people who were simply naive to what was happening when they lost their home.

Two things for me and two for my brother. Georgia doesn’t tell you what you have so you file the claim and they send you a letter if it is yours telling you what it is. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Wcdhtwn: That is somewhat of a little windfall. Congratulations for having found your rightful, unclaimed property!

NOTE TO ALL:
Be sure to search on previous names, all states you or your family members lived in. Hopefully, you will make your friends' day by notifying them also.
