Olympics Drone Disappointment

I know Paul (VTCGuy) can appreciate the disappointment when things don't go to plan with a drone...but 1200+ drones?

The plan was to do some great animations over and some within the stadium during opening ceremonies at PyeongChang. Here is what the Intel team put together on YouTube.

Now if you were watching in the US last night, or even on Today Show this AM, you wouldn't know that the 1200+ drones never got off the ground due to a last minute glitch.

Instead NBC had a few hours to stitch-in some video from a rehearsal in Germany before air-time her in US.

Live to tape is a wonderful thing in motorsports - we can eliminate boring long stretches of full course caution flag parade laps - not so much when you try to fake it during the Olympics for a big sponsor...

But the feat Intel did perform last December was impressive!

I fell asleep during the endless march of atheletes and mind numbing drone of background stories.

Was the ceremony any good?

Ha! I watched the opening ceremonies last night and they disclosed the scene with the drones and skiers was pre-recorded due to "uncertainty of the weather for opening ceremony night"
