2 Officers down Westerville OH

Two officers killed responding to a 911 hang up call. I responded to hundreds of these calls over the years. To my TRF leo brothers out there, please be safe, there is no such thing as a routine call. Get home safe, no matter what. This one really chokes me up, two officers rolling in a B unit on a lazy Saturday, I lived for those days.

Godspeed brothers

Police Officer Anthony Morelli and Police Officer Eric Joering were shot and killed today when they responded to a 911 hangup call in the 300 block of Crosswind Drive.

Both officers were shot as they arrived at the scene of the call. Officer Joering died at the scene. Officer Morelli was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

The subject was arrested at the scene.

So sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to those brave men and their families. I was born and raised in Columbus not far at all from Westerville.

Another already? This is getting crazy

Back in August 2007 a Sergeant with HSCO named Ronald Harrison was shot and killed in Brandon Florida. I didn't know him personally but I did meet him a couple of times because some of my friends are deputies in D2 where Sgt. Harrison worked and I would see him when I went into the D2 office for something

Anyway, Sgt. Harrison had just put the mic down on his radio after signing off to head home after his shift when a guy pulled up next to him at the red light and asked Sgt. Harrison something. Then for no reason he took Sgt. Harrison's life. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was just at that intersection a couple nights before because there is a pub in that plaza on the corner. There was no reason for the guy to do what he did (there never is) but Sgt. Harrison did nothing to provoke anger from the guy. All he did was roll his window down to answer/help a guy trying to get his attention.

Then in June 2009 2 officers with Tampa Police Department were killed during a traffic stop. They were both 31 and left behind families. The officers did nothing to provoke the attack. I only know 2 police officers with TPD so mostly all the LEO's I know are with HCSO or Manalapan Police Department. I did however kind of know the girlfriend of the guy who Killed the TPD officers because a really good family friend (guy was like a father to me) Owned some property that Hardee's rents from him and the girl worked there. I always saw her when I went in for food all the time.

I have friends and family who are LEO's. I'll never understand killing a LEO especially a ambush. These men and women put their lives on the line to keep us all safe. I can't even understand when people are mean and nasty to LEO's. People should show more gratitude to LEO's. They are treated badly, the pay sucks, and they risk their lives to protect us.

Anyway .... Rant over .. I just hate reading stories like this.

Skyking, honorable words there!

Rest in Peace, Officers! Prayers to family.
Sarge, I feel for you and all LEOs and communities/families that have lost them, when we hear these terrible reports.

Those stats are troubling Tim.

The loss of life in pursuit of saving life is a risk - but these cases of murdering our LEOs is not acceptable.

Don’t have an answer - just shaking my head sadly.

Very Troubling indeed. Yet I find stuff like this...https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...=.9ff79f5487e5

No mention of justified take downs. And no special count for killings that weren't cops. Also, Chicago alone to date this year has had 48 people shot and killed. https://heyjackass.com/

So sad. These officers put themselves in harms way everyday, yet they are demonized so much. Just not fair.
