Cartier Love Bracelet

Are there any guys here on TRF who currently own, or have owned the Cartier Love bracelet? If so would you please share your experience?

I looked at one in the boutique. But the 2000% markup turned me off.

I visited the Orlando Boutique on NYE while I was waiting to have dinner (arrived earlier than expected, so I went into Neiman Marcus and Cartier to kill some time. Looked at a couple of watches, a ring and the love bracelet but they didn't have it in my size, and the ones they had were all rose gold. Same with the watches. Anything I was interested in was in rose gold and I want yellow.

I did try on some watches, but they were all in rose gold. I don't want RG, but I noticed they brought the Panther watch back but only in the ladies sizes.

I have one, WG, no stones! On this current rotation it's been in my non watch wrist for almost exactly 13 months.

I workout a lot, for the gym it's no issue, swimming is fine too. For running and everything else where it moving around would be irritating I wear this thing I picked up from a running store which is supposed to keep your money, cards. It's like a wrist band, light, not noticeable.

As for price, there are definitely better countries in than the US to make this purchase.

Is your bracelet rhodiumized? Some of Cartier's WG jewelry is and some isn't.

My grey market dealer has a yellow gold Love bracelet in my size, but he's in another state so I can't try it on. Cartier had a couple of the RG love bracelets but nothing in my size. The guy had a tool which measured my wrist for the Love bracelet.

So you like it overall? I have been thinking about getting one for about a year, so now may be my time to do it.

Do you want my grey market watch deal or the guy I worked with at Cartier in Orlando?

No, I think only those bracelets with diamonds have the coating. Mine does not have diamonds.

I do like it. I contemplated getting it coated (PVD) to dull it down a little but in the end I decided not to. And I'm glad I didn't. After three or four months it showed sufficient wear for it to be sufficiently dull for my liking.

My only issue was sizing. I wish it was just a little smaller, but the next size down was too tight.

My wife had a RG version with diamonds, she's had it for a number of years without any issue. What I've noticed is the the RG tends to lose that deep colour with wear, almost looking YG in isolation (but not next to YG). For the WG I don't care, I actually want it to be duller.

I was in the Orlando Boutique this past NYE because I had some time to kill before my dinner reservation. I really like the looks of the love bracelet, and the love ring too. I also saw the Panther ring as well as the Panther chain link diamond ring and both were amazing. They had the Love rings in RG and WG and their watches were in WG, SS, and RG. Nothing in yellow. I may have a reason to buy a pair of Love rings, but mine will have to be YG.

I'd also like to have the men's YG Panther watch, but those are hard to find since they don't make them anymore. The Louis Cartier watch in YG and black leather strap is nice looking and classic.

I love my glasses, but they don't make glasses anymore, although I'm told they may still be doing the Precious Eye glasses, but someone else is doing their regular eye glasses and sunglasses since Jan. 2018

I like some of Cartier's jewelry and I'd like a watch to wear when I wear my glasses, and maybe have the Cartier bracelet to add as well. The sales rep at the boutique told me that the bracelet had to be locked on by a screw and screwdriver .. That's kind of neat

Can you clarify what you're asking when you say "share your experience" with owning a bracelet?

My wife has one, it's a bracelet. I personally think it's a waste given it's a plain PM bracelet with some engravings which tacks on an insane premium. I would reckon the wearing experience would be comparable with something equal in material not stamped with some circles.

What I mean is .... Do you like wearing your bracelet?

Are there things you don't like about the bracelet (other than costs, because lets be real .. nobody likes the price of anything Cartier produces)

Is it comfortable or uncomfortable

That's what I mean by "experience with owning the bracelet"

I have read several reviews where people have purchased the love bracelet for full retail only for it to break shortly after wearing it and then having huge problems with Richmont when they send their bracelets in to get fixed

thats the same thing a lot of people say about wearing a watch with rolex on the dial... paying a premium for some branding

Haha, that's true, but we know better.

In the bracelet example, I meant it would literally be identical to the same PM bracelet made by another jeweler. At least we know the Rolex should be better made than it's lookalike Invicta counterpart.

A member here knows the manufacturer of the bracelets. Cartier has an enormous markup. Far more than competitors.

If a guy likes the look, there are other companies that sell the same thing at competitive pricing. I bought a platinum version for the missus in abu dhabi for a quarter of what Cartier was selling white gold.

personally i dont get Cartier either and i think you are right. However, rationality probably doesn't play much of a role in most luxury goods. My wife likes cartier a lot. Probably because its cartier, but she is ok with my watch obsession so im fine with that. Dont understand it, but its still a nice brand.

I have a love ring in WG and did look at the matching bracelet but found it looked too small and femine on my wrist.

As for plating I’ve been told two stories

1) it’s only the WG pieces which have diamonds which are then plated and the non diamond model are not plated.

2) all Cartier WG is plated but the gold mix they use a bit like Rolex is a different blend then typical mixes so naturally has a more white/grey look to it.

I own one in white gold (no stones) and wear it whenever I get the urge for a couple of weeks at a time. I also own the ring and wear it as a sort of wedding ring...not married but together forever. When I do wear it, I wear it on the opposite wrist from my watch. I see pics online all the time with people wearing these on their watch wrist and all I can think of is the damage it could cause to the watch...but people do it.

I would definitely recommend you try one on for size and don't buy according to a measurement as I found they fit differently based on the bone structure of your wrist. If your crazy about getting scratches I would NOT recommend one as it will scratch.

One other thing to note if you buy preowned, there are two different versions of the screw mechanism that is used to secure the bracelet. The older version was with screws that came out all the way and the newer (and most preferred on the preowned market) version is a modified version where the screws stay in.

I bought preowned from a watch AD I bought a lot from that does a brisk side business in used luxury goods. They are also active in the sales forums on TRF and I can give the contact if anyone is interested.

I just don’t get the whole guys wearing bracelets thing.

I tried a simple gold chain bracelet years ago, I wore it for a while and I still have it, but it just wasn’t my style. Would probably go well with my bluesy though.

Those Cartier bracelets do look nice.

I thought of one until I went into a shop and saw the price tag. No thanks. I would much rather buy another Rolex at those prices.

I am very much anti fake but there is IMO no technology to a solid gold bracelet and the markup therefore is limited to a name inscribed inside a bracelet that is invisible to anyone whilst on the wrist. A 2000% mark up on gold is crazy not least when jewellers can work on either their own or your designs. I always work on them price of gold plus 50-75% mark up for manufacture MAX

Good look for a woman but laughable margin.

Are you a rich woman? That should answer your question.

Got one for my wife, she's very happy and always on her wrist. It's a classic iconic Cartier piece, wouldn't be surprised if it is what the sell the most of (if you put all the variations together).
