Icon4 ~~~ CAUTION !!! ~~~ CREDIT CARD FRAUD with citibank 😭

My 2 Citibank Cards, Costco Executive Visa and AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard over the last few days were accessed through online charges. I wasn't able to get the text warnings due to global travel issues with foreign data and service problems with my U.S. Iphone that notifies me of charges of $US 25.00 or more. I was using another phone instead.

Last night as soon got home and checked usage there was a total of $US 62,125 in charges from Canada, Argentina, U.K., Netherlands and Chlie. ( all countries I was in ) Within 5 minutes of logging on my Mac I received about 15 alert texts in 30 seconds on my iPhone.

Just a heads up

It’s an awful feeling. Hope the card issuers are swift to reverse those charges.

Also, last month my Barclay's American Airlines Aviator Card had 350.00 in petroleum charges at the same gas station and same gas pump in 1 hour. 12 different charges. I never use my debit card for gas. Always used a credit card entering my zip code. It's would be a lot easier to disput a credit card then have to someone drain your Checking account then try to get it all the cash credited back in my main account.

I’ve never been hit that hard, but have been attacked on my Discover card. Discover resolved it quickly and painlessly, but it still sucked. I hope you get this resolved quickly.

I had one company “look into” a disputed charge and determine that it was “valid” as it was done supposedly with a card swipe from my card. They sent me a copy of the signature, allegedly mine, which was a line across the screen that resembled Mount Fuji. Oddly, there was only one fraudulent charge and it didn’t trigger any warnings If you’re going to go through the hassle of cloning a card, you’d think you’d at least try to max it out.
I found that mildly amusing as it was in a state I’ve never visited in my life, 2000 miles away from my home and all my other charges, and the “signature” did not resemble any signature I’d ever used. When I called they also, oddly, said that I made the charge. Then I got a little annoyed. They put the crack detective squad on it. I guess they decided it was unlikely that I’d apparently use a Star Trek style transporter to go 2000 miles away to buy an IPad and then magically transport back to San Diego to get on with my life there.
They realized the error in their thought process and removed the charge. It was a bizarre interaction.
I’m sure you’ll be squared away in a week or two.

I had two cards last year within a week of each other that were compromised. Apparently I was in California, Greece and Japan all within an hour .....I apparently bought 8k worth of audio equipment and 6k worth of Dell computers. It’s a pain in the a$$, good luck with it all Mark, the worst part about it in the end was re organizing all the pre authorized debits or payments

I have Chase CCs and I'm glad that they block suspicious transactions (out of state/country) and they alert me via text, email, and the mobile app. They always ask me to approve these transactions first. There was a time when someone in FL (I'm from CA) tried to buy something at Home Depot and it was denied, and there was a time when I made a legit online purchase from an online merchant in Paris, France and that got blocked too. Sometimes it's a hassle, but that's nothing compared to being an ID theft victim.

The 2 cards were of course cancelled, new cards will be here tomorrow. That's fast ! And my accounts are already credited back all unauthorized charges. These are used only for business/vacation out of country 99% of the time so ( no foreign transaction fees ) I had no auto pre authorized monthly debits on them. I always call and let the card companies know what countries I'll be in and when I'll be back approximately.

And the Aviator card used to refills someone's gas tank and their friends was done in Las Vegas while I was in Florida. That was an easy one to fix because they saw other charges in Florida the same day at point of sale and new card was sent and I had the credit put back on in 48 hours.

It's hard to feel sorry for the banks but after seeing the charges come through right in front of me literally you feel like you need a shower.

At least they did it right!!! $62k. Wowzer. My identity has been stolen and used to open up credit cards and and spent about that amount. But not on a hacked account.
