Milgauss Scarcity / Discontinued? Your thoughts on the Z-Blue GV

With Basel 2018 just around the corner, what do you think will happen to this model?

Any fan base? Seriously looking for one but having difficulty finding one.

Thanks for all your inputs!

I'll put it this way, sometimes I find myself paying too much attention to my Z-Blue at a red light on sunny days. The dial is awesome and the green crystal is unreal. It's my favorite watch to just look at when I'm wearing it.

Mine is about a month old and I too find myself looking at it often even if I don't need to know what time it is.

I didn't have any trouble finding mine in fact my AD has 2 Z-Blues and one black dial all are GV.

My gut says there’s a good possibility it will be discontinued. Great reference and a pleasure to behold on the wrist.

I can't see it being discontinued but with Rolex who knows. I sourced a black one non gv, although it's not my daily (air king is) I do love it and it's more comfy than my sub-c. Great watch..

The ADs in Honolulu always seem to have multiple Milgauss in the display case.

They certainly aren’t hard to find here.

I think the line in general has struggled since they re-introduced it to the line up about 10 years ago. And the Z blue was an attempt revive things. I don't know how successful that's been...wouldn't be surprised to see it go sometime in the near term. I don't think this year, though...I would think they would give it a little more time. We'll see.

I bought one a week ago from David SW. Great transaction as always.

Z-Blue. I love it. Just enough heft, the green crystal is awesome. I will say it's a bit flashy with the PCLs and polished case. Number of others seen in the wild... zero. Just the way I like it. Unlikely to be discontinued but you never can be certain,

Great watch, but not sure if the overall rationale for it is holding up well considering where Omega is on anti-magnetic. That written, if I had not already allocated watch funds for 2018 I would consider adding one.

Thank you for your responses. The Milgauss watch in the Z blue mode is something I would consider for my collection given that:

1. It’s the only Rolex with the green crystal
2. It’s the only Rolex sports model aside from the Daytona that has a no date in its dial
3. The watch is the only one with additional anti magnetic protection in its model
4. The quirky lighting bolt hand adds a character to the watch

I wouldn’t mind getting one and glad to know that it is readily available in other parts of the world.

I’m also excited to see what’s in store in Baselworld 2018.

Thank you all!

Sub has no date. Air-King is same case and movement. ;-)

The Z-Blue has a nice dial, but the classic black GV also has the green crystal. As for sports and no date, also check out the Submariner, Explorer and Air-King (the latter having the same anti-magnetic properties and movement).

I have seen a few in ADs in the past week. I have no interest in this model so I didn't pay much attention, sorry. The quirky lightning bolt is actually a turn off for me.

I tried one on today. I definitely want one for my collection, just loved the color and unique features (second hand, crystal) vs. every other watch.

If they discontinued it at Basel, I'd buy one immediately.

Rolex is due to come out with some no date variation of their next gen movement.

My bet is for the Millgauss to be the first with some enhanced anti-magnetic components in the movement. Perhaps in the No Date Sub as well in some form. May not be this year though.

And don't forget the 7mm crown on the twinlock.

Just saw one last week at one of my ADs and it had just got in the day before...so nope I don't think they are discontinued.

Seen one at an AD yesterday. I like the watch, not a fan of the lightning seconds hand. Can't justify spending almost as much as a subC date and more than a subC no date on a milgaus. So it's a no go for me.

Love, love the Milgauss. It's an oddball Rolex and that is one reason why I love it so much. Has a lot going on in the dial, orange, blue, green crystal, lightening bolt second hand.
But it all works together just fine to me, really interesting without being way over the top.

I would get one now, never know what Basel may hold for this one. All the non GV are discontinued..........

Milgauss Scarcity / Discontinued? Your thoughts on the Z-Blue GV

Thanks for the additional responses to this thread.

Yes I stand corrected. No date sports models cover the Sub C ND as well. Not sure if I will consider Air King as a sports model. Although we can say the same thing with the Milgauss. Lol!

I understand the issue on the Milgauss being raised by some TRF members. So all good to hear them. I just happen to like the Milgauss in my collection, whether it will be discontinued or not. Not sure why it took me a while to consider it.

Many thanks for your inputs.

I've always appreciated the Milgauss but never considered the watch for myself. One of my favorite (and to me, most memorable parts) of the watch is the orange lightning bolt seconds hand.

It seems to always be in stock and available at my local ADs in LA (which I've been visiting pretty often recently).

I appreciate that it doesn't have to give up any real estate to a bezel insert or a
date window. Polished bezel & PCLs are super eye-catching. Just a great looking watch

I think I'd like to have either a Milgauss or or the new Air King in the collection .. OR perhaps a 36 mm Explorer 1 .. The Milgauss is neat because of it's seconds hand.
