Comparing DJ36, Milgauss and GMT

Hi all, I went to the AD today to try on some Rolexes. I was thinking about putting my name on the list for s sub date, but before doing so, I wanted to be 100% sure this is the perfect watch for me. This would be my first and last Rolex and I intend it to wear it daily and to the office (no suit).

8 years ago, I bought a 45mm Hamilton, which I kind of regret, because it's too big for my tiny wrists (6 1/4 inch). Which is why I haven't worn it that much, especially not in summer with short sleeves.

Of course, I couldn't try on a sub date (not in stock), but they had a GMT, which has a similar 40mm case. I tried it on, but because it wasn't fitted properly to my wrist, it's hard for me to tell if this will wear comfortably once I bought it and some links will be removed. It seems the lug to lug size is just a little bit to large for me, but will it bother me later on (just like with the Hamilton)? Will I wear it sleeveless without feeling I am making a huge statement wearing a clock on my wrist?

I also tried a blue dial Milgauss. I like it. I showed the pics to my girlfriend and she likes it as well, but warned me that because of it looking a bit more special and modern, it isn't as timeless as a Sub date. Although it has the same diameter as the GMT (and is thicker) I think it fitted better somehow. The lugs are slimmer, maybe that's why. Anyway, I am concerned this model will get boring to me too soon. The dial is spectacular to look at right now, but I am afraid I will get tired of it after 2 years or so. Any Milgauss owners here who wear this daily for some years now and still enjoy it? I have searched in this forum, but so far I only found happy Milgauss owners who just bought the watch.

Than I also tried on a 36mm datejust, with blue dial. I was surprised how small it was, but once on the wrist it looked alright. Nothing special, but alright.

Here are some pics for you to look at. I will take my own decision but posting here is a nice way to rethink stuff over. Thanks!

(Sorry, I had to remove the pics because I haven't posted 10 messages yet)

Did you try a DJ 41? Oddly, despite the Sub being 40mm, I feel like my DJ 41 wears smaller.

I don’t own one, but I’m a big fan of the Milgauss. I’d probably pick one up if I didn’t own a blue DJ.

Maybe try an Explorer 1?

Well it depends on what you personally like. If the gmt fits you well, then sub should fit similarly well. I found the GMT fit me better than the sub, but I have small wrists - 6.5. Never tried on a Milgauss but knowing that the case is thicker and that you liked it ... then the Sub could be the sweet spot.

As far as comfort, they’ll all fit comfortably if the bracelet is sized correctly. I went from a Oyster Perpetual date 34mm to a GMT II 40mm and in terms of in wearing during the day, I’d never know the difference.

Let me ask you a question about the DJ 36, did you happen to notice that the odd number days are in red and even in black? They were when I tried them on and I went on an odd number day when the date was in red, completely ruined the watch for me ... I’d go DJ41 just for that.
