Rolex without any Gold, at all!

If I understand correctly, most new Rolexs all have gold in them. Even my stainless steel GMT II master has some white gold on the dial and the hour/minute/seconds hand. Is that true?

If so, is there any Rolex out there that doesn't have any gold at all?

Interesting question...
I'm struggling to think of a model that does not contain gold...
Maybe the new platinum DD with the blued hands and markers? Even then, the Rolex crown on the dial may be gold...

Rolex make their own gold, so I suppose they would want to use plenty of it...

Cheers

Gold's more conductive than stainless steel, right? I'd expect the Milgauss to not have any gold in it at all.

The markers on the dial would be white gold. I think the opening poster might be right, I don't think there actually is a Rolex that's totally gold-free....although maybe the platinum Cellini....that's a bit of a stab in the dark :S

Nope, the Milgauss' secret lies withing the very conductive, but shielding farraday cage. Gold on the dial and hands don't change a thing

Only the fakes!!

Seriously, to the best of my knowledge, all Rolex dials have either 18K WG or YG markers and hands.

Even the Air King? I didn't think it contained any gold whatsoever. BUT, what I know about Rolex watches can fit on the tip of my finger.

why would you want one without?

vintage ones dont. At least not the subs, steel hands (heard refernce to them rusting) and no rings around the lume. but as for new ones, not that i know of...

How about Panerais, do the stainless steel models have any gold? The hands and/or crown?

Is the crown 18K WG? I thought it was stainless with the rest of the case....

Sports models began using WG in the mid 80s or so. I think you'd have to go prior to that.
