I read somewhere that the "slightest wrist movement" winds a Rolex. Now, the winding weight (?) on the movement, that "cresent moon" looking thing, does it have to make a complete revolution to wind the watch? Or, can it move at less than 360 degrees and wind the watch?

Does not need a full revolution to wind. Even the "Pedulum" motion will wind it.

Each little movement rotates a gear. That gear winds it the same way that winding the stem winds it..click after click..; also in either direction.

So, the gearing is a bit different... it takes twice as many rotor rotations as stem rotations...but the principal is the same....

I've got some photos someplace.....

I'll try to find them...

Ah, yes... here's one.. The counterweight is laying upside down. When it rotates it spins the two red gears, which turn the gold gear, and then the little grey gear winds the mainspring up... It's all quite boring..really..

Have you ever considered overhauling your own watches? It seems like you have the know how. Perhaps you do it already? I wish I had the skill to do it myself!
