Day Date 40 WG vs Daytona Oysterflex
Please vote, Day Date has 20% discount, I’m also looking as a future value on the long term.
Thank you guys N Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

How long is the "future" for you"? How much "value" do you expect to get in the "future"? Buy a watch because you want to own and wear it.

Future value? Are you talking about value retention / appreciation? If this is your objective buy 3 steel watches; or even better - put your money in the market. |

If you're asking this you're probably buying to resell for profit.

Gold Daytona requires a gold bracelet. It's the heft it brings to a rather light watch.

I find everyone’s hang up on the OF’s price point peculiar. It’s not like you’re getting $38k worth of gold on a full gold Rolex. Not even close, the bracelet is probably worth $5k max in scrap value. Rather than focusing on price or future value, focus on the watch you love most so you’ll never have to worry about selling it. I personally find the 116519LN to be one of the most beautiful and potentially iconic (modern 6263 big red anyone?) Daytonas ever made. That’s why I bought it at list and don’t doubt my decision for a second. |

If you can aim for 25% discount, then it’s basically the same cost as a Daytona OF and in that case, I would go for the DD.
I see DD trading at around high 20s so there would be “minimal” loss. Of course, this is under the assumption that you’re not going to get any discount on the OF Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I'm going with the DD40 in this scenario, but if it was the 509, it might be different...

Two very different watches. Look at your current collection and see where the gap is. Do you have a dress watch? Yes +1 for Daytona. Do you have a chrono? +1 for DD.
Both should hold relatively similar value short term. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I feel like I’m in the way out, fringe minority on this, but I can’t sign off on a $30k watch on a rubber strap.
