My first true test of patience with my Rolex

I've read numerous other threads about how people have reacted when a stranger grabs their wrist or puts prints all over their nice clean Rolex and I've wondered how I would react in a similar situation. Well, last night was the first test! I was at a company party at a bar downtown and since I'm a Manager I was sipping on my diet coke to keep an eye on things. So, it's about midnight and things start getting pretty crazy. I'm standing there talking to a fellow employee and drunk guy clips the girl I'm talking to and she pours her beer all over my arm and watch. I thought I would have a difficult time with this but surprisingly, it barely got my heart rate going. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that the person I was talking an amazing looking blonde woman... It was nice knowing that I was wearing a tool built to handle much more than a few splashes of beer so I really didn't care at all. I will admit though....the first thing I did when I got home was bust out the liquid soap and toothbrush to clean it up.

Hahah! Very true This forum is my escape...if she ever jumps on the forum I suppose I will cross that bridge when we come to it. I guess I have a false sense of security since I have a user name / password and didn't stop to think that anyone can join the forum and it only takes two minutes to do so!

If a Rolex can handle a fall from a bar stool it can certainly handle a little spilled beer. Not that i'm speaking from experience.

sounds like it is your first rolex so you are on the alert ... just relax ... your watch can take salt water sumbersions for long periods so beer and other stuff is not a big deal ... just avoid impacts though .. rolexes are not made for taking impacts... enjoy it man!!!

I was in a similar situation when out in a club and whilst i was chating up a lady a guy knocked some of his beer onto my watch. My reaction was same as yours, watches like this can handle more than a pint of beer flowing all of your wrist and watch!

I think a Beer-Dweller Deep Cask is needed for situations like this!

You should have taken the watch off, placed it around your knuckles and smashed that guy in the teeth with it.

You could have then used your cell phone to call Q and put in a requisition for another and you and the blonde could have strolled arm in arm to a quiet corner for a passionate exchange of sweet-nothings.

It's a beer...
Run it under some warm water behind the bar
sink and if you really are worried rub it between
your hands with some liquid soap in your hands
and give it a good rinse.

Heck, I woulda dried my wrist and kept talking to the
girl and just rinsed my wrist when next washing my hands.

I don't baby my watches (except for my AP as its a delicate dress watch)
due to me being tough on my watches I avoid buying "sports" watches with
polished bracelets....

Anyway, glad you didn't freak over it like some would have.

Gotta remember its steel and its just a watch....

haha, i've had 2 similar experiences. One with a guy spilling an entire beer basically right on my omega, and another time with a girl spilling a mixed drink on a cheaper watch. i too kept calm, and was suprised at myself.

I think I would have done the same and kept my cool and pretend like it was nothing... and later excuse myself to the company, approach the drunk, gave him my card, and request that once "undrunk", he comes pay me a visit so I could give him a lesson in good manners ;-)
