The Open

How about Zack Johnson!?!

A question for the experts. Is the grass always so brown there? It looks burned up, but the weather is far too mild and wet for that.

Evidently the warm and dry summer took its toll on Carnoustie this year. The R & A typically lets Mother Nature take over for The Open Championship, they only water the greens.

The run on some of the 'fairways' is pretty silly, but change isn't in the vocabulary of the R&A, so in years like this, silly is what you get.

Ridiculous run yesterday. Maybe the rain today will improve the fairways.

Wind is down, greens are soft and not too fast. Course is ripe for the taking today.

Up until Friday it hasn't rained for over a month for most the the country, and pretty much 30 degrees every day. Very un-British like.

Sounds like it will be very windy for Sunday's round.

The final round could be epic if the wind comes up to play with their heads and shots.

I know it may be fleeting, but when did Tiger Woods last lead in a major tournament? I know he last won in 2008.

This is incredible watching. Not the greatest golf being played but exciting. Links golf at its best.

What a run the old man Tiger had! I always have to cheer for Oosthuizen though because one of my parents good friends is his caddy!

For a few holes there it was fantastic, like the noughties were back again, never thought he'd actually win it but so cool to see him challenging and roaring again.

I agree! I was just a kid when he was dominating the game but I do remember watching videos of the crazy chips & putts he would have and remember being on the course with my dad pretending to be him It'll be interesting to see when, if ever, he can win another Open / Championship.

The fairways at Carnoustie are supposed to be brown.

I used to work in the golf industry. I did a presentation at Carnoustie in 2009. Had the opportunity to do a course tour with the DGO. It was an unusually wet year, and the fairways were nearly green. The DGO was telling me how horrible it looked and I asked why. He said, and I quote, "Fairways are supposed to be brown, greens are supposed to be green. Hence the name, greens!"

I'm starting to think Jordan is turning into the new Greg Norman, how many Majors has he been leading after 3 rounds only to capitulate, happening too often and my bookie is cleaning up!

Good stuff in the middle of the final round. Somewhat anticlimactic at the end. No one really made a charge. Our course is watered so much we get no roll on drives. I wonder how far I would hit it there....
