Good morning All!
I know there’s probably some opinions here on these two :)
If you were choosing between these two.....which would you?
Assume:
1. the F car needs no maintenance other than possible fluids for two years
2. the Porsche is certified
3. Keeping either one 2-4 years

A. Late model Porsche 911...year 15-17 ish (certified)
B. Ferrari 360....year 02-04 ish (all up to date, records complete, etc....)

Not an expert, but if the F car needs any service I suspect it's big ticket. I'd probably go Porsche largely based on age and maintenance costs.

What makes you or someone a Porsche guy?

I'm positive 99% of the people would change their mind if they ever drove a 355/F430/599 GTO/F12/FXX/... compared to most porsches.

I don't like the look of most Ferraris, I've been in a few (Italia, f430, 599), never drove myself though but I do know what the sound and feeling is like. It's just not for me. I prefer the lines of an older 911, much more understated as well.

I'm not the type of guy to ever buy an exotic car, even if money were no issue.

The same thing that makes someone a stainless steel or a two tone guy.
Different taste.

It's okay to like different things, else we'd have only one kind of watch and one car to drive.

I think ducatis are sexy, but i would never own one to ride. I'd put it in a living room. I HATE twins, but i think a ducati is sexy. They are not reliable, they are expensive, and they break a lot. So having a choice, i would buy an inline 4 over ducati any day.

I'm an inline-4 type of gal.

Why question someone's taste?

In the end, they are both gorgeous cars. Richard asked for opinions. That's what he's getting. Relax

I love the 911. It’s just gorgeous and clearly the leader of its pack.

But the Ferrari is in a different pack altogether. And imho, way more special. IMHO, it’s hard to even compare these two.

I would take the Ferrari without a moments hesitation.

Ferrari. Porsche is great but they are everywhere, F car will be special. Yeah, you will pay more for service but as long as you know and accept that going in, I think you would enjoy the experience much more.

I would go with the Porsche to be honest or you have to find a really nice and clean 360.

Do you plan on driving either one often? If so, I would suggest the Porsche. They are meant to be driven daily and require little maintenance other than oil changes, valve adjustment, and brakes.

Like others said, you need to drive both and see what you want.

Week end use/ special occasion would be ferrari. Daily, the Porsche would be better. Ferrari can handle the daily driver bit but will take a big beating if high miles compared to its peers when you sell it.

I was an Audi & Porsche master tech in a past career and have worked on both having been in the independent and dealership environment as well as a business owner. I would lean P-car pretty heavily. Touch more vanilla but higher probably of smooth sailing from an ownership perspective depending on model/year selection than a 360 especially an F1 box and associated service costs and logistics of having one cared for given how old they are getting.

What kind of 911 are we talking about? A base 911, GT3?

I'd pick a 360 over a base 911 or 911s, but not a GT2/GT3.

I agree with a lot of the recent comments. If you are going to use the car daily or often, the 911 is much more practical. I daily drive a 991 Cab and absolutely love it. I don't put a lot of miles on it, but it is rock solid. I've had it almost five years. I've never had a Ferrari, and likely never will, but think they are gorgeous and sound great. But I get the impression that they are pretty finicky and certainly attract a lot more attention. So you have to like (or be ok with) that.
