Flipping not just for Rolex

Mercedes-AMG will include contract language in its exclusive upcoming Formula One-sourced Project One hypercar when it starts delivering to customers early next year prohibiting the new owners from flipping the $2.6 million car for a quick profit.

Sad that greed is now a driver for some people instead of enjoyment but I guess that is human nature.

Ford got the ball rolling on this with the GT release if I’m not mistaken. That new merc looks amazing btw.

Just one instance of a much larger problem.

I think the housing crisis was my tipping point. Just wait till the next one can't wait to see what that will be like.

All these other small examples are just everybody else's way of getting their due.

This has been happening for a while now. Started with Ferraris during the release of the 360 Modena. Has extend to the 430, 458, 488 and now almost every model except for the California.

Most Ferrari Dealerships have their clients signing no-flip clauses or sale backs to the dealer within the first year of ownership. Most are legal contracts, but those who do it anyways can be guaranteed they will be banned from purchasing any new limited Ferraris in the future.

I believe for limited production models now like the new 488 Pista, dealers are requested to submit the clients name and Ferrari of Italy determines who gets the cars based on their history and reputation with the brand.

This phenomenon with Rolex is pretty recent.

Gotta be honest here, my sympathy doesn't really side with the guy paying a premium on a $3mm car.

On a side note...

Owners will have to take the car in every 31,000 miles to get the gas engine rebuilt?

Umm, what the $&()??

Is there a cost to this on top of the 2.6 million price tag?

Sorry. Even if I could afford this car, I’d not buy it because of that. Then again, most of these cars will never see 10k miles let alone 30k.
