So I finally met with the man everyone recommends so highly, Rikki !
I read a lot about him thru these forums (along with few other selected names) & found out he is somewhat local to me, 30 min drive from my place of work and 1 hour from my home area. I contacted him by phone and mentioned I might stop up the following afternoon which I did & brought all 3 of my watches with me. He examined each and ran them thru his timegrapher and I found out all 3 were magnetized so he demagnetized each one. Learned a few others things thru our brief encounter & the guy really knows his stuff. I can see how everyone speaks highly about him, at least I now know where to take my watches instead of mailing them out for service

No idea, my 16710 always seemed to run fast and the 114060 always seemed to be the opposite. But after he probed them quickly and ran them on the Timegrapher then demagnetized them, all seem to be fine now. I plan to go with this https://www.acetimer.com/Watch-and-P...pher-1000.html along with one of those $15 demagnatizer's that are listed on Amazon.

Rik is fantastic! Just stopped by last week and he fitted the correct crystal on my 5513. He serviced my 1601 and precision earlier this year.

Wow, all three watches were magnetized?? Might I ask what you do for a living, i.e. is it possible you work around strong magnetic fields? Just trying to get an understanding what you might be doing that causes the reoccurring issue you're seeing.
I'm thinking about buying a Wolf Induction Cooktop that who's claim to fame is: "No Magic, Magnets" so that had me a bit concerned, but I've seen a few threads on TRF that discussed the technology in detail and it seems the consensus is that induction is ok and does not induce magnetism in modern Rolex's. I'm curious, are you using an Induction Cooktop? If not, what do you think is causing your problem? |
