Where to stay in Miami
I’m headed to Miami for a few days on a short vacation before heading to Tampa to visit some friends and it will be my first time in Miami. I want to stay on the beach and catch some rays but also do some shopping etc. I’m going to be stay on Miami Beach. I’m not there for the night life so staying right in the middle of south beach isn’t really ideal, I’d rather stay away from that. Anyone been there and have some recommendations of where to stay? I was thinking the mid beach area maybe The Palms of The Confidante but would like to hear from people who have been there as to some good hotels

I looked at the W and FB. The W was pricey and to close to the noisy part of town and FB seemed ok but the night club on site etc seemed to get a lot of bad reviews about noise etc. I’m trying to stay around $200 a night and be away from the party scene as well so that limits choices somewhat

$200 a night on the beach.... or do you mean a short walk to beach? Have you considered FT Lauderdale or, a bit closer to SoBe, Hollywood area?

We stayed at the Pestana south beach for a couple of nights on our way down to key west a few years ago. Should be within budget and easy walking distance to the beach/ dining etc. Nice airy room, not top end luxe, but excellent for the price & location.

No hate here. My kids love that place. We usually stay there when we have to go down south.

The Edition is great and has a wonderful restaurant as well, Matador room located in the lobby. It may be above your price but well worth checking...

Try Marriott Stanton which is on south end of Miami Beach. It is in quieter part of South Beach and directly on beach. W hotel is going to be loud. Edition is very nice hotel.

That’s nice but to close to the action. I wana be away from the noise. That’s why I mentioned mid beach. I’m going to Bal Harbour to shop and also the open air malls (Lincoln) so want to be within easy access. The Marriot is super far south |

The Raleigh is one of my favorite, far enough north from the heart of South Beach. The Gale a is nice boutique hotel but across Collins Ave, although they do have a designated beach area for guests. The National is nice, although older. Royal Palm may also be another one to consider.
You're most likely not going to go wrong with any of the big names. Just pick the best deal. Also make sure you include $40 a night for valet, pretty standard price for all the hotels.

I just found out that The Palm has a coffeemaker in the room and most of the others don’t. That might be a deal maker

I guess I am one of the few that does NOT like the FB! I am usually there once a year for a business/conference trip and the service always sucks IMHO. Staff has attitude and prices are ridiculous depending on what time of year you go. The best part of the FB is Hakassan but I would not stay there just for the restaurant.
Back to the OP question, I would also recommend the following which used to be a Boutique type Marriott Courtyard prior to closing after the hurricane. They just reopened in August after a renovation as part of Marriott's Autograph Collection: (It's just south of the FB and I used to stay there during it's Courtyard days instead of staying at the FB since the rates were so much better.) https://www.cadillachotelmiamibeach.com/ I've also heard good things about The Confidante Miami Beach which you mentioned. Friends have also mentioned The Betsey to me when we discussed the hotels in the area. |

Not on the beach but might be an option...originally built as a Starwood aloft but now a Double Tree. http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hot...HDT/index.html Also had coworkers stay at this hotel (while we had the conference at the FB) and they were pretty happy.
