Will 'Hulk' grey market prices drop after Baselworld 2019?

true, but IMO popularity has increased more due to the market than a genuine, organic rise in popularity. Guilty as charged. Last year i passed on one sitting in an AD display case in Houston. Now i want one. I would be lying if i said the fact its hard to get didn't make it more attractive. Not because of resale potential, but because its a challenge.

The Hulk has come into its own this past year. The only thing that might bring it back to its msrp would be if Rolex made enough for demand. A new movement is due and we have been speculating on this for 2 years now. There is a chance that a new Sub may be released with the new movement but know one knows until Baselworld 2019. A new 3235 movement in a new Sub will send the market even worse than now for the new model. A lot of new buyers want the newest models and I believe there will be a flood of the current Subs flipped into the grey market since there are so many out there. How many of those will be LVc’s is determine if their is a new Hulk.

I doubt it will have much impact at all, greys are not looking for reasons to lower prices, rather the opposite so my guess is they will completely ignore it, and unless Rolex produce a ton of them there will be not much market pressure either.

By about $2k more for the new 126660 JC. This info was given to me by a forum trusted seller this week that sells a lot of Rolex.

I’m going to contradict my original post - the 116660 to 126660 upgrade actually isn’t a great analogy for any update to movement for the Hulk. The 126660 addresses a number of concerns that people had with the 116660 and is a fundamentally more appealing watch (and I say that as a 116660 owner).

An upgrade to the movement alone for the Hulk wouldn’t likely drive that much of a price difference with the old models as I can’t see fundamental design changes occurring

I would have to say no. If you want Msrp your best bet would be to get on a wait list at an AD and wait it out

ALL SS will drop. Its all over priced and inflated bubble in the current environment. Hulks werent even popular not too long ago.

BLROs are falling already from their peaks. SS Skyd are as well. Blue Skyd is no longer selling for $20k.

I predict bubble Burst and some persons will loose around 2k down from 9 to £7000
Same goes for the batman ..once the new models come out the older model will become so oooh last year....
Hope so would love to see the greys lose out and the fools who pay well over cost for what is a second hand watch

Bubble in a watch market can't burst like a stock market, it will maybe take a piercing and gradually deflate, as the watch market is inefficient and illiquid and run by a cartel of greys who will take their sweet time cutting prices and thus their profit margins. Their spreads will actually widen initially as greys look to bid less while trying to keep their asking prices high, so you will probably be best off with private dealing before the new market norm emerges.

Well the new BLRO is out and the BLNR is still over MSRP in the grey market. Dont think a new model is a direct reason for a drop in grey prices. At the end of the day what greys ask isnt necessarily what they get.

Combination of last series 16710 prior the 116710, with a different stick dial is the bigger factor. The 3185 vs 3186 makes zero difference in other watches

Hulk will not get an updated movement. BLNR did not get an updated movement when the new GMT Pepsi came out with the new power reserve not did it's resale value. On a different note, I think the new power reserve was a response to the Hi Beat Seikos that beat at 10 ticks a second with a ~70 power reserve vs old GMT movement that beat at 8 ticks with 48 hour power reserve. I think Rolex did the right thing stepping up.
