1991 Submariner Date...worth it?
Hello...looking to add a vintage to my collection, found an excellent condition (lightly polished), all original parts, box and papers. Does this look okay to you? Anything I should be aware of? Would love to get your thoughts on pricing as well...

Can't go wrong for the right price ;-). I recently got a year 1997 16610 with papers & in similiar condition, for about $7.5k which I believe is average these days.

Interesting that there is zero patina? I have a Sub from early 90’s that has really turned s they are all different.
FYI....nice watch, but the work of Rolex collecting does not consider this watch “vintage” |

If you enjoy patina, you are fortunate enough to have a 16610 that has developed patina in its short life.

I think the watch looks good and it is complete with box and papers. In today's market a fair price is the best we can hope for and if I wanted the watch I would be below 8K if possible. Values are funny in that you have no loss until you sell or flip but you should always make an informed decision. Go for it if you want it.

It too polished to my eye, holes are close to edges not to mention they were sharp few polishes ago and it looks like the springbars are protruding.

aftermarket bracelet? and it isnt lightly polished, it is a lot polished! Also, 1991 is not vintage yet in the collector world.

X2. Bracelet looks aftermarket and the the end link is missing the 501B stamping.

it's okay. polished. can't tell how much if we don't get a closer look at the chamfers and the undersides of the lugs. $7.5K for full set is not bad. personally I would wait for a better example even if price was higher.

Thanks everyone for the responses, very helpful. I will wait for a better example since this one is indeed quite polished. It is being offered at $7,200 so the price is decent. Happy to share details on seller, PM me if google didn’t get you there.
Thanks again for the insight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t think 1991 would be considered vintage yet. It’s a great looking piece though. Looks like it’s been polished.

When is it vintage is so debatable. I have a 16610 that will be 30 years old soon and is not considered vintage because of the crystal!Oh and mine has NOT been polished! I like that watch :-)

If the seller is the one saying that it has all original parts and the bracelet has already come into question it would certainly make me look a bit closer at everything else. |
