I got the call today. Incoming. My first Rolex

A bit of background first. I knew nothing really about Rolex except Roger Federer had a deal with Rolex. I saw an article on Bloomberg months ago about the new Rolex Pepsi GMT. I loved how it looked and went to the Rolex website and found a local dealer and called them and they put me on a list. Not sure what number 6, 13, 16? A month later I went in and met with a salesperson. He showed me the Milgauss. My wife wanted me to buy it, but I wanted to wait for the Pepsi. A couple months later we went to Las Vegas and I saw a DJ 41
fluted bezel jubilee and wanted it but they did not have the blue dial. So, later I ended up reading an article about Pepsi alternatives and got a nice Steinhart. Prior to that I had a Movado for many years. I go back to the AD and see another salesperson. I tell her I want to buy the Pepsi GMT, Batman GMT or the Hulk. I hand her a business card and she said she'll call me when she gets one. Then, I go a month later and talk to a different salesperson. We talk watches and I let him know what I'm interested in. I did not leave a card. A month or 2 later (which was yesterday) I go in and he remembers me. I tell him what I want and give him my business card and put my cell phone number on it. Today at work, I get a call and it is him. He said he doesn't have what I want, but he thought he'd call me because they have something that I might like. He said it is 44mm Deepsea Sea Dweller with Blue and Black dial. I tell him hold on and let me pull it up on Rolex website. He said they called someone who wanted it but the person was on the East Coast and it is first come first serve. They called a couple other people and they did not want it. I was the 4th call and I said I will be there in 30 minutes. Left work quickly and went there in my Halloween outfit. The dial is beautiful. Told him, let me go home and put on a dress shirt and see how it works with that. He put it back in the vault. I went home and came back and it looked fine with the dress shirt. It would fit underneath the shirt if I needed it to. I bought it. Asked for a discount even though I know the answer would be no. I know what it sells for on the gray market. To get it for MSRP plus tax was fine. Told him take off the stickers. He knew I was local and not a flipper. I could tell they want to sell to regular people who will wear the watches and not flip them. The watch is a tank. No cyclops which is fine. I'm so happy. I've spent so much time lurking on this website for the last few months. This will eventually go to my son when I am gone. Sorry for the long post.

Happy first Rolex. You will always remember Halloween as your first Rolex Day. Great watch by the way with one of the best dials of all time. A real keeper.

Well done, enjoy!..You are a lucky man..
I put my name down a year ago for a SS Sub for my upcoming 50th Birthday next month..have kept contact up with AD in interim and will visit again this weekend..
Same as you, I won't be flipping but wearing every day and passing down to my son.

Maybe lady luck will shine on me and I will get a call sometime soon
