15450 or wait for 15500 for my wrist?

Hi guys,
I have a 15.6cm (6.1") wrist
If you were me, would you snap up the first 15450 you come across, or wait for the 15500 (let's say 1 yr wait?)
Would plan to wear it 4 days a week or so.

My wrist is just a bit larger than yours. I had a 15400 and sold it because I felt it was too big on my wrist. Picked up a 15450 blue and absolutely love it. I think the 15450 would fit better on a smaller wrist.

6.1 might be too small for the 15500 unless very flat but edge case at best.

It's not about waiting. With a 6" wrist, you can't wear 41mm RO elegantly without the lugs hanging out. Stick with 15450.

Depends on how flat/wide the top of your wrist is. Seems tough for 6.1” to wear a 41mm RO. See pics I took as how the lugs end links stick out:

I think the others are right and it's going to be tough with my wrist.
Just seems 37" dial is a bit small even though there's a lot of metal.

38mm Chrono or 39mm 15300 or 15202—those will be hard to get.

Yah I've given up on the 15202, even though i'm friendly with the AD; blue dial there's just no chance. The Chronos do look very sexy, but minimum 1 year wait here in Bangkok.

Fret not, my uncle just gotten his 15202 and I had the chance to examine and tried it on excessively. Surprisingly it was very underwhelming. Have been a fan of the 15202 since I saw it on forums and on the net. It's rare to even spot one at the boutique or even a grey dealer, so the chance to try or obsessively examine the watch was close to non-existent. I thought it would looked better in flesh, but it didn't gave off that spark. The JLC movement while ultra thin makes it very delicate. The whole watch just feels like a piece to be displayed in a muesem, great if you are collecting, bad if you meant for it to be worn. All of a sudden, my lust for the 15202 just vanished into thin air. Given it's historic battle with the Nautilus, I would say the Nautilus is much more robust and sturdy piece. Wonder if anyone agrees with me on this. I was so disappointed when I got it on the wrist. The chronos, 15400 and the 15500 would give a much better pressence and wear. If you had a small wrist, I would go for the 15300. For me, as much hate as the 15500 get, I am loving it, I would probably aim for that piece as my first RO. What's more to love than a new movement that hasn't been tested by the public haha. But definitely try all pieces first! At the end of the day, it must sing to you.

To the OP. The 15450 is the best bet with a small wrist.

Yah, those darn endlinks...beautiful but a curse for smaller wrists.
my wrist is 1/16" smaller than yours across the top - have you ever felt like the watch wears too big on you, or is it basically perfect (on photo seems like a great fit)

Great photos, really details the importance of width vs circumference of wrist.

One alternative to consider is that the width of your wrist actually changes depending on orientation. it's about +10% wider in neutral position (wrist facing out) vs when it's turned to check the time (palm facing out) as you show in your photos. This can amount to a 1/4" difference for most people.

The "check" I always use when I try on a new watch for size, is to hold my hand up with my palm facing me and check to see if the metal lugs protrude from the sides of the wrist. If I can see any metal poking out from both sides of the wrist then I know the watch is too big. This obviously works best with leather straps but you can try it with bracelets as well.

The neutral position of the wrist is how we are oriented 90% of the time and pretty much how 100% of people will see the watch on your wrist. If it sits well in this position then I say go for it :)

Forget about a 41mm RO on a wrist smaller than 6.5 inches. Mine is 6.75 and can’t pull it off either.

There is a huge difference in size between the 15450 and the 41mm imho. If the 15400 doesnt look good on your wrist then the 15500 will not either.

Haven't been able to try on a 15400 sadly.
I know that 90% chance - based on responses on this thread - I'll have to settle for a 37mm but it just looks and feels like a different watch on the wrist - less RO-like
Maybe I'll go wait for the chronos instead.

15450 is the only one that is going to properly fit and is a great piece. Even the 39mm pieces will look like wall clocks on a 6.1” wrist. Congrats in advance!

I’ve not bought AP but I’m waiting.... I have to say most if not many pics I see of people on this site have too big of royal oaks and it looks tacky. I never comment, until now. I have 6.25 inch wrists and can pull off a deep blue, just barely, but an AD for AP 1000 miles away told me a 41mm royal oak wears far larger than a deep blue, cautioning me that even a 39mm royal oak will likely hang over my wrist. It’s really kept me from buying AP but I suspect eventually I’ll buy the 38mm once the hype settles down. My suggestion would be to not be like many others herein posing with watches hanging over their wrists like mantel clocks .. get what fits vs what others tell you. Eventually small watches will make a comeback. You’re seeing it now and Rolex likely will offer a sub with smaller lugs... and it will outsell everything combined from other brands.. so, get the smaller watch before all the other “sheep” follow suit... it’s coming. The 41mm will be outsold eventually by smaller sizes, just might take a few years or ten before it happens... and then after that there will be a 45mm royal limited edition blah blah etc that will sell well. It’s all hype in the end and most people don’t wear watches, nor care... reading this site might fool us into forgetting the latter...

Definitely recommend a 15450. I have a flat 6.75in wrist and prefer the 15450. Just saw someone with a 15400 the other day and it looked massive on his wrist.

I do think the 37mm wears like a pre-maxi case Rolex 40mm - side by side my explorer 16570 and the AP 15450 feel very similar in proportions
