Google Earth

Does anyone know and use Google Earth? What a program! I do not say this often but this is great. I’m like a kid with a new toy. I entered Rotterdam, The Netherlands and the satcam image almost stopped above my house! So I live in the geographic center of Rotterdam, I guess. Did the same with Ericeira, Portugal and with a bit of shifting found the place we were staying last year.

Yea, it is a cool program, I use it all the time to just look around. Try and find the pentagon, When i Tried it, Google earth shutdown, and on Area 51, it doesnt let me Zoom in as much..

I use it all the time. It's one of the best direction finding sites I have used. Not only does it give you good directions, but you can actually see the roads. It's much better than MapQuest or any of the others I have tried.

I was amazed at the detail I found on area 51. I could see planes & carts on the ground.
What intrigued me was the big salt flats in the North, with the road access etc and the huge curve lines around the flats

I use it all the time. I like how you can plug in geographic coordinates as well as addresses. I used this feature last year to measure the distance to a place in the middle of the ocean.

It's really good fun. There's loads of other sites showing some weird stuff that's built into G.Earth (as you'll know, the photos are built up from loads of views, so they choose the most interesting in time as well as view... some people can see their car in the work's car park (parking lot) as well as at home... and can notice themselves driving down their road while their boat is out at sea (or at least, not in the marina)... who stole it? ). There's also things like airborne cars, loads of flying planes etc and it often goes horribly wrong at coastlines, where they try to match the edges of multiple pictures to put the sea in roughly the right place. I noticed there are often double features due to that (e.g. there are two Bournemouth piers).

The area of London where the Sultan of Brunei has a house is just a black blob... that takes real money
