Hi all,
Went in to the AD to do some browsing and they just starting carrying the Panerai line. These watches look great in person! I couldn't help myself and ended up buying it on the spot. I know these watches are great but I haven't done a lot of research on this particular model. If anyone has good info on this model, please share

Hi Mike.Got the same model that you had just bought.It's a Luminor Marina(with the seconds hand),and also with a display back.Since you just bought it recently,it's most likely the one with a sandwich dial.Earlier models(up to the G models-pertaining to the year of production)has the dial with painted numbers.With a case size of 44mm,it is a manual wound ETA 6497/2(56 hours power reserve).It belongs to the historic line of collection from Panerai.If you plan to buy several Pams,this is a good starting point.Next project for you? Strap collecting

Thanks for the info. Is there a difference b/w this model and the PAM104 aside from it being an automatic and having a date or are they essentially the same watch? Also, is the 104 harder to obtain than the 111? Thanks again.

Aside from the 2 things you have noted,the 111 has a display back and the later models(for 111) have the sandwich dial,the 104 has a solid caseback and painted dial.That's about it.Availability for both models is quite similar I would like to assume.:)

A big congrats on your 111. Great looking watch. I was able to fine a 104 fairly easy and for a decent price. Enjoy yours for many years to come.

Yes,they look great in person and they even feel better and look better on the wrist.

As an impulsive buy the 111 was a great choice !!! Congrats !! Welcome to the special world of Panerai

Regarding your questions, you have much reading to do! I'd start by just looking over Panerai.com, looking at the different models (historic, contemporary and manufattura) and then come back with your questions.

Thanks guys, this watch is amazing. It was pretty dumb of me to make such an impulse buy without doing the right research but I think this one was meant to be. I was a little concerned about the fact that it's a mechanical instead of automatic and the no-date had me wondering but now I see that's what I like so much about this watch - it's simplicity.

Here's to another addiction...

Yes,simplicity and ..... bold and destinctive.Classic,retro yet modern too .Over-the-top,but stylish too.I guess its difficult to clearly define what makes us so attracted to design,but I guess the combination of all facets lead to its intrique.Quite addictive !!

Congrats Mike. My first Pam was a 111 as well and I love it so much I sold my Sub 14060m because it wasn't getting any wrist time and when I did wear it it felt too small!
Now the fever for straps should start kicking in. I already have three additional straps and changing them is so easy the harder part is deciding which one do I want this week!
