Joy!
We had new friends over for dinner the other night. By chance, they are both avid cyclists, have fantastic equipment and are very active.
Long story short, one friend is loaning us his "beater" cycle - a lightweight, smooth as silk LaMond. My hubby (Mr. I don't have time to exercise, but maybe I'll go out and purchase a $1000 bike just to see if I like it) is out cruising the extensive neighborhood roads around our house (!!!). My kiddos can now handle two wheelers really well, and we can all ride together as a family now - to a hidden playground a couple of miles away within our neighborhood. And, those of you who know me probably remember that I love to cycle. Well, my dream of joining the local cycle club and riding for hours along with my hubby (and maybe our new friends) is just a little closer...

Good for you, Carolina!! I've got 2 LeMond's. Cycling is addicting but cheaper than therapy.

Dan, I can tell that you have two LeMonds, because you actually know how to spell the brand name properly!

Well, that, and the fact each bike has about 50 logos on them. dP

Are they "made in China", or "designed in xxx, assembled in China" or somewhere in between?

I visited my mum and dad yesterday and my wayward brother still lives with them. He has just built up a Colnago C50 based bike. It looks the works, just about everything is carbon fibre. Now I'm seriously thinking of getting back into cycling.

Road bikes tend to get bowled over by cars. Mountain bikes are the way to go. This beauty is now in semi retirement.

That's great news, Caroline! I'm still a little wistful about our cycling days of yore. But it won't be long before the kids are a little older.... my old road bike sits forlorn in the shed, and my mountain bike is currently encumbered with a trailer for the kiddos!

Do they really help? I thought once your rear became acclimated after a couple of weeks, that particular problem would go away.

Ones that match my jersey, of course. Actually, no brand in particular. Pearl Izumi work well. dP
