34mm on a guy

Just thinking about my next watch, as I like simple dials (used to have the airing 14000M) and checked this OP out, I liked both, the 34 & 36. Too small? this was the 34mm size.

I wear watches that range from 36mm-47mm.

There are no rules. As long as it makes you happy and dial is legible go for it. I'd very happily rock a 32mm Tudor Mini-Sub on my 6.75 inch wrist.

I wear 34mm as well, but I'm a skinny marathoner so anything much bigger looks a bit odd on me anyway

I cant open the photo but I agree with sutats. There are no rules. Buy what you like and don't worry about what other people think is the 'right' size for a man's watch. I have a op34 white which I love. My wrist is 6.5 but it also looks great on larger wrists in my opinion.

I don't like the double indices at 3, 6, 9, makes it look too old fashion. the 34 has much nicer indices with it's 3, 6, 9 slightly larger then the rest.

Thanks for this shot. Looking to get a Rolex I can afford (34mm), and one of the sales rep was trying to get me to buy 36mm up.
A watch should fit within the square of your wrist. I want it to fit well, not look goofy. Nice watches btw

To clarify, are you looking at a 34mm because it is the most affordable, or are you looking for the most affordable 34mm Rolex available?

The 36mm is only a few hundred more (assuming we're taking about the OP model here?) so that shouldn't be the deterrent. Unlike past generations, the two use different movements today, and only the 36 comes with the 70hr PR.

That said, I prefer the 34 because I don't love the double hour markers at 3-6-9 and after wearing a 124270 for a bit, have developed a preference for slightly narrower bracelets.

Looks great. Don't let the "number" hold you back. The 34mm OP dial wears much larger than what it is, the case diameter is more of a cushion shape allowing for a larger dial.

The 34mm and 36mm look about the same on a wrist. Question is which of the two you like more (double batons etc).

I personally found the 34 a bit too small, i have small wrists at a little over 6.5 but they are relatively flat so watches wear a little smaller to my eye. And to me, the 34 wears small on you unlike poidog who seems to look great with 34. My opinion though, go with your guy, I went with the double baton 36.

Thanks! I ended up returning the 34mm to my AD and went with an explorer 1 instead. I agree, the 34mm fit good on the wrist but when looking back at my whole frame it was too small for what I wanted. the Exp pushes the limit on what fits me... 40mm max.

I love the explorer 1, but i struggle with it looking a bit bloated in 39 and a bit too small in 36 with the thinner lugs. That is what drew me to the 36mm black op, I think it is perfect. But i think you have chosen well with the explorer 1 39mm, i would have likely gone that direction if the plan was not to pass down my first two rolexes to my daughters.

Also remember that case diameter is not the only measurement that plays into how a watch wears. The shape, case thickness, and bezel all play a part also

1) Learn how to post pictures. I looked but felt really uneasy downloading a file to my computer. 2) It looks fine however you have plenty of room for a larger watch. Buying by price is generally not a good idea. Buying by what you like is the better approach. You shouldn't need outside opinions to make your choice for you. I can wear a 34mm watch and would if it was all I could manage. On the other hand, a 40mm watch on my 6.5 in wrist looks better to my eye.

400 wouldn't be the deciding factor for me . I'd get the one I like more . In this case dial more than size . Not a fan of the double batons. 36mm being a sweet spot , couple mm either direction isn't a big deal . If 42 is your sweet spot , 34 is going to be small.
Im 5'11 170# w/ 6.875 wrist -my last watch was 34OP olive. I'm loving the smaller size .Personally , I've had to experience different watches to get comfortable with 34mm . When I started out 36 seemed small. I've come to realize that nobody cares what watch I'm wearing. When I ask for opinions, I'm getting their preferences , not necessarily mine

Have owned & worn several 34mm & wear up to 50mm. Worked out fine for me. Imo, its a great unisex sizing & catches the eye.
