I HATE living alone!!
As some of you might know, my husband is in the Navy, so I'm by myself 95% of the time....
He was just here since Thursday, but left earlier today. Now the power in my house has gone out. I've gone through cycling the breakers and whatnot... first it came back on briefly but now I've got nothing I just needed to rant! It's not easy doing everything by yourself in a place where you have no family |

I am sure it is tough without your husband. However, he is a provider and a protector of our nation. IMHO, he is an honorable man and I for one appreciate his service. It is folks like your husband, and generations of men and women before him, that allows us to safely tap away on our laptops, enjoying our time here on TRF. He probably hates being away from you as much as you hate him being away.

I usually deal with it quite well but when things go wrong I feel so alone The only friends I could call probably know less than I do... I've become quite the handywoman lately but this is over my head. But thanks for all the good thoughts |

After raising 3 children, the last a junior in HS, I would love the peace and quiet.

Jen,
We can help ya' waste a bunch of time. Seriously, I travel often and my wife has to deal with lot's while I'm gone [usually better than me]. But you have the added worry to boot. Hope you get it all sorted out and the hubby gets back safe, sound, and fast. dP

So is all the power out in your house? Do the neighbors have power? Have you called the power company? How are you getting out on the net?
And why would you post that you are by yourself, husband gone and alarm system down? Oh and that you have a rolex too... I hope you have a gun, and even if you don't tell us that you do and it's a big one and you know how to use it.

Does the main power box have an odd smell, like it's hot? And do you have any sub power boxes? It's odd for everything to be out but one bedroom.

I don't have any sub and don't notice a smell. The one breaker that originally started the problem powers some track lighting in a hallway. The lights just went out and when I flipped that breaker it wasn't "clicking" but the power came back on in the hallway. It went out as soon as I turned the lights on again. When I went and flipped the breaker again, everything but that room. I went outside and flipped the breaker by the power box but |

sounds like you have a blown fuse...wait it out till someone gets there tomorrow. I just got back from Fernandina and passed by Jax on the way home. Do a lot of work up there. Your husband ship out of Mayport? I love that base!

x2. Sleep tight and call the electrician tomorrow. Don't try replacing the fuse yourself - it may blow right away if you don't know what caused it to blow in the first place.
This reminds me of having a leaked chimney one Christmas day and our usual plumber was away until 15th Jan of next year. Ended up getting a 8m ladder from a neighbour and put "no more gaps" to seal it myself. |

Jen if not all your power is out it sounds like you may have lost a phase on your service entrance line. Does anything else work, Micowave, dishwasher or any lights in other parts of the house? If you have a breaker box this would show up as every other breaker working. It would be a power company fix. If you have an overhead service it could be a tree limb at the root of the problem (no pun intended). If this is the case call the power company and tell them you have lost a phase in your service and they should come out and and fix it and it should be on them
