Bought a pipe today.

I had one from my grandfather but I thought it was time to get one for myself. Bought an entry level that seemed nice to me. Any fans here?

Hey Flavio, I used to smoke a pipe frequently and do sometimes still. I have a few of them and my grandfather was also the one who always had his pipe with him. Love the smell.

Try to look into some high quality aged tobaccos, I found things like 'Dunhill early morning pipe' or Rattray's Black Mallory much nicer than these cheaper bags of tobacco. Just like cigars and whisky, there's is a strong following of fine pipe tobacco.

Since you bought a Dutch bag of tobacco, in Amsterdam there is a very good old tobacco store called Hajenius, they have a very large selection of cigars and pipe tobacco in all price and quality ranges, they are also very knowledgeable and can help you make a decision.

Here's a few pics of my pipes.

I love your pipe by the way! 'entry level' or not, Big Ben makes very nice pipes (I own one as well), and their factory in Roermond is 40min away from home, in my home province of limburg. Good that you support my local economy

I do it gladly and I honestly feel it's the least I can do my friend.

As for the pipe I bought this one at a shop called Hartman. It was a very pleasant experience. Very knowledgeable guys. I was there yesterday and went back today for a final call. I hope to use this one a lot for years to come.

Love the smell of good pipe smoke. I smoked one in my 30’s and my wife called me an old man. I had a Petersen and the briar was really nice. The local tobacconist had great varieties of pipe tobacco. Enjoy!

Most recent one for me, was a birthday gift handmade by a friend of mine who has made some pretty cool pipes. Most of his work sells before its finished. This one came with a personalized stem for me and was the first of his 2019 pipes to be made. I felt pretty honored by it.

Nice Pipe Flavio. Cigar guy myself but a pipe looks so classy and gentlemanly. Enjoy!

Used to in the 70's and 80's. Cigarettes, cigars and pipes; smoked them all. Quit all, cold turkey 30 years ago.

My dad used to smoke a pipe, as did my uncle. I always enjoyed the smell.

It's been years since I've seen someone smoking one.

I'd like to see it make a comeback. They were very popular in the 70s.
I've never been much of a drinker but when I go out socially I do prefer to go to a (typically cigar) smoking lounge.
The nice thing about pipes is that it's mostly faster than a cigar and, as a bearded man, the smell of smoke doesn't permeate my beard and mustache as much following a pipe as much as following a cigar.
Barring the cost of the pipe and accessories, pipe smoking seems much less expensive than cigars so that's also nice.

Nice looking pipe! I have a few at home, but don't smoke them as often as I would like. Probably time for some new tobacco. Enjoy it

Always enjoyed a good pipe. the aroma of select tobacco, accompanied with a glass of bourbon. certainly seems to make time slow down in the hectic world I live.
