Caseback engraving in Chicago?

Anyone have any recommendations? I'd like to get a small engraving done on the DJ I am purchasing for my wife (thanks to briboxer for a great deal!). I'd like to find a quality engraver with a quick turnaround time. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also, this is a new watch, so would engraving the caseback void the warranty?

I do not believe rolex will void warranty for engraving a case back.

Try these ADs, they are both ADs and Jewelers:

It voids the warranty if the engraver removes the caseback (almost always necessary).

I got mine engraved at an AD the day I bought it. No one mentioned voiding a warranty. They even encouraged the engraving since it was a BLRO.

I’d assume an AD would not suggest something that voided warranty. Doing the engraving at an AD shouldn’t void anything.

I agree with this, and I’d want to see examples of their work first - There are plenty of ham-handed engravers. I’ve seen some very skilled engraving work on IG, though idk about Chicago specifically.

You mentioned time pressure, but even if the engraving must be done afterward, I think it is worth your time to find a very good engraver. You want this engraving to bring her pleasure forever!

This is the best description of laser engraving I have ever heard.

To engrave correctly they will definitely have to remove the caseback. Mock it up and then install it on their engraving pad for little thing that spins around. Don’t know what its called. I have several pieces hand engraved over the years... Master Engravers are a dying breed. That craft is one I wish I would have learned when I had the chance.

I do custom Leather Work so I try and steer People to actual Craftsmen,Not Someone who types on a Computer and pushes send.

hmmm. not sure i want an engraver taking off the caseback on a brand new watch. thanks for the replies guys!
