Why is that a bad experience?
Registered mail is slow but it is the safest way to send something

I have used it for a number of years and for a dozen or more Rolex shipments. Never been a problem

It can be very slow, and tracking can be off, but it's very safe. And the insurance is actually insurance (FedEx etc isn't).
The Rolex Service Center insists on registered mail. That should be testimony enough that it's a good way to ship. |

It’s only bad when it doesn’t arrive. It’s the only way a RSC will accept a watch. That has to count for something.

As a retired postal clerk, let me assure you that this is the safest way to send any high value item, everyone one who touches it, signs for it also kept locked up.
Problem is, as everyone has said, it is slow but will get there. Tom Foley |

USPS registered mail is the only way I send valuables. Yes, it is slow. Yes, the tracking sucks. What matters to me is that it gets to the destination safely.

The vintage camera was lost/stolen in the UPS system (it was a signature delivery, too, never got there) and he was pissed. It was never recovered. When he later complained to me with his sob story I told him to shut the he!! up and never again ask me for any advice. He was kind of a nasty jerk anyway, so not seeing him any more is actually a relief.
