eBay scam?

I've got the Daytona on eBay because they have a $20 maximum final value fee promotion going on, so I figured, hey, why not?

So, this guy emails me (through eBay) and asks if "the product is still available." That's my first clue.

I said yes, he then asks for my lowest price. I looked up the account, and it seems that everything he's bought in the past, although it has excellent feedback, are cheap items and much of the feedback, although from different users, is the exact same text. Could that be a clue?

I knock off $100 and he says OK and then sends me this:
New message from: gaominglin1686 (117Turquoise Star)
Alright send me your PayPal email and item number to my email [email protected]
Which sets off another set of warning bells, because why does he not want to go through eBay to complete the transaction, and he should already know the item number since he is presumably, you know, messaging me about it.

Weird. I can't help but assume that he's trying to defraud me.

Plus, there is no way I would let PayPal take that amount. Buyers like that will do charge back.

That was my other concern. I've had a few PP issues in the past as an eBay seller, and it's annoying. Fortunately, neither were frauds, just PITA buyers.

I'm not even sure if through ebays messaging system you can send email addresses. I think they block them so people can't get out of paying the ebay fees.

eBay makes it abundantly clear to NOT conduct a sale for an item listed on eBay outside of their website. Doing this will leave you liable for any scams that this person will try to throw at you. Personally, I wouldn't sell something of such value on eBay knowing the potential to get burned (item received not as described, buyer keeps "counterfeit" watch, you must refund) but at the very least, let this guy go as he is showing signs of being a scammer

He dropped it off to you at the hospital and you were so out of it you gave it to one of the nurses. And he said a big thank you.

"Is this item still for sale?" lol

That's the first generic line of every Craigslist scam email I've ever gotten. Why would someone even put that in a message on eBay? If it's listed, it's still for sale! Guaranteed scam.
