Panerai Pam 661 Carbotech with P.9010 has a 80+ hour power reserve!
Just finishing my power reserve test of my Pam 661 with the new all in-house Neuchâtel movement cal.9010. I do these test yearly with all my watches and this is the first time I tested this new beauty. Panerai spec is “3 days” or 72 hours. My test revealed a 80 hour and 15 minute power reserve. This is a incredible achievement from Panerai with this new movement with twin barrel mainspring. I also took accuracy checks along the test and the accuracy was amazing all the way up to the 70 hour mark with it slightly deteriorating a bit but still very respectable. The long duration of accuracy is explained by the amplitude being is so strong (288-290). Panerai is the longest power reserve I have ever tested by a considerable margin. The second highest was Rolex new cal 3285 movement in the CHNR at 71 hours and 44 minutes slightly under the 72 hour spec.
Panerai Caliber P.9010 info: The automatic P.9010 calibre, entirely developed and created in the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, has central hour and minute hands, the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days – the basic standard for Panerai in-house movements – is stored in two spring barrels whose springs are wound by an oscillating weight operating in both directions. Consisting of 200 components including 31 jewels, the calibre has a diameter of 13¾ lignes and it is 6 mm thick. The balance, fixed by a bridge with twin supports, oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It is associated with the device which stops it as soon as the winding crown is pulled out, enabling the watch to be perfectly synchronised with a reference signal. In the P.9010 calibre the hours can be conveniently adjusted without interfering with the movement of the minute hand, thanks to the device which directly moves only the relative hand in jumps of one hour forward or backwards. This function is very useful when changing time zones or moving between summer time and winter time, and conveniently the adjustment of the hour hand is automatically connected to the date indicator. |

That’s a long PR,I think last time I tried with older,thicker P900x,they only managed to go to 78 hrs and 75 hrs

Interesting about the Rolex 3285.
I would have expected that exceed 72 hours. My 682 with the same p.9010 also went longer than 72 hours. I'm about to see if my 317 will go longer than 8 days. |

I often tested my 8 days watches
339 - basic P2002 - 248 hours of PR 345 - P2004/9 - 237 hours and 45 mins 368 - P2002/9 - 247 hours and 45 mins However the accuracy starting to gone off after the 7th day... |

Sounds very much like my 233. >10days but runs a bit off when the tang is down, or faulty.
