Very disappointed - have been saving to buy myself a Submariner LV for my 50th Bday. Now that I have enough money , I have approached numerous A.D only to be told that allocations are always offered to existing vip customers only . If you want to become a vip customer you have to buy 2 or 3 stock Rolex watches first . What a farce particularly as Ebay have lots with ridiculous mark ups - I guess these are being sold by vip customers !!

Welcome to current market Rolex! You’d better be a very good customer of an AD or have a connection some where.

Hell yes, it’s as relevant today as it was 2 years ago

What’s worrying is I’m hoping to move to Cornwall later this year, sounds as though the Rolex world down there is a bit like tumbleweed rolling across a desert.

Welcome

Sadly you’re extremely late to the party,
Welcome to Rolex in 2019.

Your options are to pick a model they have in stock and work up over the years to a Submariner LV, use they grey market and get your LV but pay double RRP, or pick another brand.

Quite a shock for a newcomer. I kind of see it now from the point-of-view of someone who really just want to get a milestone watch.

Glad your introduction to the real world has at least brought you to TRF. Welcome and enjoy the community!

A little bit of advice, they had a Hulk in the back, but AD's do not sell to people off the street. They run a business like any other and do what is most profitable for their business. They sell the hot pieces to their VVIP clients, and to grey dealers that also will take a half dozen two tone Datejust's along with it. Please don't pay over list for one on eBay or from grey dealers. You will only regret it in the long run.

If you really want one then go grey, it will cost you a lot less than playing the AD games especially if your time is worth something also.

You want one, the whole world wants one....its going to be expensive to get to the front of the very long queues.

Why not consider a regular black sub at just a little over rrp until things cool down.....you may find you actually prefer the black anyway.....I do

Absolutely. My friends are tempting to sell their Hulks, the love for greenish subs just died on them. They regret not to buy a classic sub in black.

Don’t give up. If you are in Cornwall your local AD group will
Be the same as mine. I was fortunate and they secured a BLNR for me in reasonable time. I have had some purchasing history with the group. Be patient, polite and cultivate a relationship. You may get lucky. First step with them is to complete the register of interest. Good luck

Welcome to the world (and forums)!

Harsh reality isn’t it. A continuous cycle that no one can catch up to. I’m sure back when you wanted the watch and couldn’t purchase it there were also individuals chasing for discounts as well.

I would say do more a bit more research and keep track of the market. A lot of people have worked hard and saved money to buy their luxury items.
