Help ordering a strap???
Hey Guys & Gals,
I have a simple question, I own many straps from various strap smiths and I would like to no what size I have to go with to get the Panerai Vintage look. You no what I'm talking about right??? When the one side (hole side) is really long, I have a 6 3/4 wrist and I usually go with a 125/75 but it want the 125 to be a little longer without looking crazy. What do you think would be the correct size? Its for my Pam 233 I no this is a pretty stupid question but I'm sure there's a right way to go about doing it. Let me no what u's think. Regards, Len Ps: If you guys have any pictures that you could show me that would be GREAT!!! |

The regular size is 115/75, where the 75mm is the buckle part of the strap, the 115 is the holed part of the strap.
The best thing to do to make sure is that you have the proper length for the buckle side, so that the buckle sits perfectly underneath the wrist, then you can pretty well get any size for the holed side. So if you have a 6.75" wrist, which is pretty much my wrist size then the 75mm is about right (i also have a 233), if you want more of a tail to go through the loops and require a longer holed strap then you can order these from pretty much anyone. The most important thing to do though is get the holes put in the right place, the way i do this is to put on a normal strap, find the best hole to fit, i then remove the strap and then i measure from the top part of the strap (where the springbar goes through) down to the hole i use, i then stipulate this length to the strap maker, if that hole isn't quite right, say it's too tight then i add a couple of millimetres to the size, if it's too slack i take off a couple of millimetres. I then get about 6 holes put in with this hole being the second from the top, usually about 8-9mm apart. An example: My 115/75mm OEM alligator fits me at the second top hole, this is approximately 55mm from the top of the strap, it feels just a little loose, not a lot so i remove 1mm from the size, i would then ask the strap maker to produce me a strap with the first hole 46mm from the top, then the next hole would be 54mm, which is the hole that i would use, then it would go to 62mm and so on (8mm apart). If i wanted to have a longer tail on the strap i would ask for it to be about 135mm long, giving me 20mm more strap to put through the loop.

I suggest a 135 x 75mm strap if you want something longer.
Not too long and not too short. Here is a customer's pic of a 135/75 strap on a wrist around your size. of course every strap is different because you have to take into consideration the thickness of the straps as it will affect how long or how short the tailend will go after the keepers |

All bout your preference.
I don't like the really long tail. Pretty sure my 233 has a 135mm x 75mm. Have about a 6.75 - 7" wrist too. Remeber, the thicker the strap, the longer you will need.

size
you should add 5mm to short tail and 20mm to long tail, using the oem size you wear.
